what is it that you prefer to read with? should the book that you plan to buy be a hardbound type or the softbound type? another co-worker of mine told me that whenever his wife asks for books to be bought for her to read that she is interested in, she wanted it to be hardbound. well, we know that when the covering is hard it is more expensive right. so which of the two do you prefer buying? happy posting and happy mylotting!

Hi Skbh, I really prefer soft cover books. I like to read in bed, so it's very tiring having to hold a hardcover book; moreover, hardcover books take up more space, and I'm really running out of space to store my books.

hi lazeebee! well i do have countable hardbound books and i have more softbounds books in my shelf because it does not really fill up the space due to its thin cover compared to hardbound ones right. happy posting and happy mylotting!

I like to buy hardbound books for the books that for me are really worth to collect and my favorite books. But other than that, I prefer to read or buy softbound, as it is more handy and convenient to read it than hardbound, not to mention easy to carry anywhere.

I may be a minority in this but I can't stand hard cover books. For one thing they're heavy, I tend to like to read reclining over even lying down so I like books that are a lighter weight. Plus I hate the protective jacket on hard cover books because it's always falling off when you're trying to read. Hard books definitely hold up better over time, but I still prefer to buy soft covers and paperbacks.

hi philjas! yeah you are true to this. it is the comfort that you take when you read a book lying down that a soft bound book has an advantage of. but you are also right that hard bound books lasts longer because of its hard covering. happy posting and happy mylotting!

I would have to answer with a re4sounding "It depends." There are a lot of factors that would determine if I buy a hard or soft cover. I have two or three favorite authors who I woulod eventually like to have all of their books in hard cover. Just because. I prefer soft cover as they are easier to handle, especially if I am reading in bed. Hard covers are more expensive, but I have bought many used hard cover books which were in very good shape. The library I go to has an ongoing book sale going on. They sell hard covers for $2.00. I have added many a book to my collection from there. Plus the money benefits the library.
