Its casing made from plastic although it is a cheap camera, but not like others plastic cameras. For capturing an image, DSC P50 also giving a good result with its color and sharpness. But for night mode, there is little bit different ( not sharps as day mode) When making a video or movie, no HQ mode, and even worse, no sound. But as long as having big memory, there is no time limit. What a movie without their sounds?? There is also a feature called ClipMotion which will take 10 images and put them into an animated GIF for you.
