My neice, her BF and her son visited this weekend.
We went for lunch to Texas Roadhouse restaraunt.
Excellent food and service as well I'll add.
Between the 4 of us we had T-Bone steak, pulled pok, chicken,
BBQ Beef and prok ribs as well as a variety of appetizers.
Of course there was a lot left over.
So 3 to go containers were asked for.
One for my neices family, one for me and Buster, and one for my neices pigs at her farm. Buster had a field day chewing and devouring the various bones. He sat out in 30 degree weather for a couple hours till the bones were gone completely. Do you bring doggie bags home for you? For your dog? Does your dog chew and digest bones? Or is it a smaller dog and they just gnaw on the bones?

It has been a while since we had steak bones, but when we get a doggie bag, it is usually for us..If we did get a bone my dog can eat, she would devour it in no time..
Many years ago at the local grocery store, we were able to pick up a beef leg bone for our dalmatian and she loved it..But they don't have them anymore, which is too bad, since Zoe sometimes steals out things to chew on..

My wifes work serves leg of lamb.
Buster loves when we bring him a lamb leg bone.
Those are his all time fave bones for munching on.

Yes, I remember when we had lamb over Passover and gave Zoe the bone..I can't remember, but I don't think it made it into the next day..

If there is meat as left overs yes I would like to have a doggie bag. However I do refrain from giving him bones, especially chicken ones as these might get stuck in the dog's throat and can make more harm. Up till a year ago I had a rough collie. He was a medium sized dog who love to gnaw the occasional bone. © ronaldinu 2008

Buster eats them after gnawing them into tiny little pieces.
No problems in 5 years with him eating bones.

I had been wanting to go there but hadn't till this weekend.
4 of us ate and drank all for $100 with a tip of almost 20% in that amount.
Fairly priced I feel really.
he didn't get p[ork just the rib bones.
No meat at all really on the bones.

I have brought home doggie bags before. I usually am not able to finish most of my meal, if I have left over chicken, I will bring it home for my cats. I have even brought home bacon that I could not finish for the kitties. I must say those kitties really enjoyed their doggie bag

Well, when we get a doggy bag, we normally give it to the human beings who stayed at home instead of came with us to eat. But yesterday we went to Famous Dave's, a restaurant with ribs and chicken and other barbecued foods. We got a lot of leftovers, so we gave the dog a slice of pork. But it is bad for him, he works it of when he chases squirrels!

I've never given my dogs real animal bones to chew at the advice of several vets we've had over the years. I was told they could get stuck in a dog's throat. I do give them the dehydrated chicken chews and pig ears. Whether I would give leftovers to my dog or not would depend on what we had. My daughter left 1/2 of a New York Strip in a seafood sauce (lobster, shrimp and crab) which the dogs did not get. But I have brought home cheicken, meatloaf, burgers for them.

Buster isa good sized Beagle.
So he can chew the bones into small pieces with no problem.
he chews them like a rawhide really.
They get really soft, then he breaks them into tiony pieces eating them.
No problems in all his years with bones yet.

Yes, I do bring doggie bags home for my family and my pets. I figure I paid for the meal. If I can't eat it. It is going home with me to eat at a later time. My miniature pinschers love left overs. But I am very picky about what kind of left overs I allow them to have.

I seldom actually bring home a "doggie bag" for the doggie. I have been known at a BBQ place to ask for beef ribs for the dog once or twice, but since I won't eat ribs, they aren't mine!
So, how did you like Texas Roadhouse? I've only eaten at 2 of them. One is down in South Austin and is ACTUALLY partially owned by Willie Nelson and the other was when we took our road trip to Tyler. The first time I was not particularly "whelmed" by it, but did enjoy the meal we got in Tyler - maybe there it was more the savor of appitite.

When I take my mother out to eat, we always get a doggie bag, if we are in a restaurant that allows it. She doesn't eat a big meal and we'll get a box and take it home for another meal for her. That's like getting two for the price of one. We usually don't bring home anything ourselves.

Hi GRANDPA BOB,
Your Buster looks so sweet in his kennel, we do eat out at all and I do the cooking everyday and I have two cats but they like to have titbits from us when we eat.

It's a dog house not a kennel.
Kennels are usually steel and have a gate to lock them inside.
But he loves his bones.

My dog loves it when I go out to eat! I always bring him home the leftovers and yes he loves to gnaw on those bones and then bury them. I usually get two doggie bags, one with the bones in it and one with the other stuff to bring to my cat.

We have found that since we got our puppy she is a bone eater, lol..she will just chew and chew until there is nothing left, haha...she does that to everything. It was kind of annoying at first, so I started keeping her out of our personal space!!

Hi Grandpa Bob. I do read most of your postings. And just by that I really like you. How old are you actually? I hope you don't mind me asking. Well, I do the same too. I have four doggie pets at home, two at my old business place (I've sold the business, but the new owners had agreed to keep my two pets there provided I continue looking after them), and three cats as of now. They do enjoy all the eats we give them.

We used to bring home just about anything for our cocker spaniels, even bones till one of them choked on one and that's when we stopped. They're both gone over the rainbow bridge but when they were still with us, we had to have one checked out for alergies because she had such terrible skin problems all the time and once we knew what she could and couldn't eat, we modified both of their meals quite a bit. The male ate almost everything we gave him but the female ate potatoes soaked with butter and califlower. Of all things, califlower was one of her favorites and she's hunt us down when we were cutting one up or eating one. lol

hi grandpa bob oh yes I usually do bring home a doggie bag
even though I dont have the doggie. as a diabetic If I eat allthat they put on myplate in one setting I will be comatose
from high blood sugar, so I just cut it in half and take half home to reheat for my next meal. saves cooking and spares my'blood sugar. Speaking of food, I will never forget the time
some friend of the library left us a large sack of mixed donuts
and they were so fresh and so good. Now I am a diabetic, and I should have known better. But I had one with chocolate frosting, no problem, then there was one with maple frosting, okay so far, then one had raspberry filling, not so okay, and lastly one that was big puffy and glazed. I sat there, I couldnt move, I was just half awake, scared, and not knowing what to do. so people would ask are you okay, and I would mumble yes , the lights were blurring, the noise level was too loud, and Iwas in a sort of stupor, I could not get up. my supervisor c ame over and had a coworker take me home.by then I was shaking and cold. I checked my
blood glucose, it was fifty. way too low, I had gone horribly high then crashed. lol. moral to my story dont eat four donuts if you are a diabetic. lol 1 person likes this

That sounds like a lot of food, I bet it was good too. I bet Buster was a happy dog..lol. Sometimes I bring doggie bags home, it just depends on where we eat and how much food we have left over. Yes, my dog gets the leftovers, he loves them, he's so spoiled, he can chew and digest the bones pretty good, he's a medium sized dog, but we try not to give him too much of it, but he's a happy dog too...
