do you hate it as much as me when people buy your children presents or toys for christmas that are not age appropriate? my in laws are famous for that. they bought a dora sleeping bag for my daughter (she is 11) and well, you can guess what she thought of it! then they have bought a pen for my 15 year old (woo hoo!) another year, they bought them both purses, nice purses mind you, but i dont even like them...they look like something an older lady would wear! any stories to share?

I figure the whole point of buying gifts for someone is that it's intended specificaly for that one person,so a little thought and consideration should go into the gift.. A Generic gift that doesn't reflect the recipient's age, hobbies or interests-ok a gift is a gift, but if you don't put any thought into it,you may as well give them cash or a voucher so they can buy something they DO want..getting a thoughtful gift from someone that you'll appreciate can be memorable!

I have to admit I wouldn't be 100% aware of my Nieces and Nephews' interests so as to be able to give them an ideally personalised gift each time the occasion would come around,be it a birthday or at Christmas..If all else fails,I'll admit defeat and ask my Siblings what their kids would appreciate! Thanks for the Best Response!

I got a barbie doll as a gift last christmas. I then wished I just received a broom or maybe an apron. Well, what could I do? It's christmas. I should be joyful.I put the doll in my display cabinet. It's there until now. Well, at least someone has mistaken me as a little cute girl.hehe

Who would give a grown Woman a Barbie Doll?! Was it someone's idea of a Joke? I don't suppose you would have ever collected them at any time that whoever gifted it to you thought You might like it?

I guess they just don't understand children, especially if they haven't had any in a long time. They need help lol
