I am NOT an opera fan

Last night we went to a college production of La Boheme. My step-sons girlfriend was in the chorus and it was her first college production. I'm not a fan of opera music, but I've never been so it was an experience. Well, I didn't care for it at all, and about fell asleep a couple times. The best part was when my father-in-law fell and landed in this guys lap.
Do you care for the opera? If you don't, would you go to an ametuer production for a friend/family member?

I am not a fan of opera's either. I did go see one one time, at least I took my mom and children and had to go lay down in the car because I got such a migraine I had to get out of the theater. It was put on by some of the local doctors in town. I wanted to see it because I was working as a nurse and wanted to see how they sang.

That woulda been cool to see, especially knowing the doctors and all. I'm sorry you weren't feeling well and had to miss it though...

Sorry, had to laugh at that one. I was bored to tears also! If I had brought a book or something I would have gone out in the lobby for a while...

Oh well I was board to tears before the headache came about. I was not enjoying it. I think if I was I may have been able to tough it out.

I am not a fan of opera and have never been to an opera but when I watched America's Got Talent this season and heard Neal E. Boyd singing it sure did give me the chills, he sang so good and he is an opera singer. My daughter has always loved to sing, was always in choir ever since she was in elementary school and even was number one in reginal's one year and I never missed anything she performed in. I would sit though an ameture production if she or any of my other family members were performing, maybe not as willing to sit through the opera if it was a friend or a member of the friends family. Is that bad of me? I would not expect my friends to go and sit through something my family members were in if they was not a fan of that type of thing.

I think I heard about that guy, and he was very good. I just don't like opera so I doubt if I'll see him perform for real.
I'm hoping that if this girl is in any more operas it's during tax season so I have a reason to not go - isn't that horrible of me??? It is hard to ask friends and all to show up for that kind of stuff...

I would go to just about anything for a friend and family member. I even went to "orchestra concerts" that started with beginning fifth grade students squeaking on their instruments. I went to productions where my son was the light crew. I do not think I would enjoy opera, however, and am glad that no one I know has been in one.

My son played clarinet from like 3rd grade through middle school so I went to a lot of those "concerts" too! But, I enjoyed them because I was also in the band in school... Had he played in high school I would have gone to England with him to hear them play, but band was not for "cool" kids so he dropped out :-(
I'm sure I'll have to go to some more productions, but I'm hoping this girl gets parts in musicals instead of operas from now on. I'd much rather go to a musical than an opera...
Since it's "family" I'll be going to as many of them as I can, you are right about doing things for friends and family :)
