Have you ever fallen off a ladder?

I haven't ever actually fallen off a ladder, but I did have one knocked out from under me once on a job site. I was on an eight-foot step ladder, and was near the top of it putting a frame on the ceiling rafters that was going to be used as extra support for a large ceiling fan or something (I can't remember what it was). I had some 2x4's cut, and was nailing them between the rafters to form a sort-of box. I had took a couple of steps down so that I could reach some nails that were in a box on the ladder with me, and was climbing back up to where I needed to be to finish what I was doing. Some of the other workers below were using a wheel barrow to haul out some debris from a wall we had torn out. I don't know exactly how it happened, but somehow he lost control of the loaded wheel barrow (he was trying to keep it from turning over) and it slammed right into the ladder I was on. I realized what was happening just in time to reach up over my head and grab the rafters where I was putting the frame. I kind-of dangled there for the few seconds it took them to get the ladder set up again for me. Luckily, I was high enough when the ladder went out from under me that I could reach the rafters, otherwise I would have taken a pretty nasty fall to the concrete floor below...

No, I have never have. I am sorry to hear about your brother. I hope to never ever do this. I hope that it does not happen to anyone. Falling off a ladder can be very dangerous and painful..
