flu shot and your other medications

last year, during flu shot season, i wanted to get a flu shot but i was on prednisone for the pain because of my knees (i have no cartlidge in them) and after talking to my doctor, the pharmasist and the community health organization, no one knew whether i would be safe if i got a flu shot while on the drug.
i finally got an answer after calling the public health nurses of ontario (they have a hotline that you can call and talk to a rn to see if your illness is worth a trip to emergency or not).
they sure were not all that well informed.

Sorry to hear about your knee pain. Ouch, that does sound unpleasant. Plus, it sounds pretty frustrating that you had trouble getting an answer about whether to get your flu shot or not. When I went to get my flu shot this year, the nurse took my temperature, then gave me the shot. This is the first year they took my temp. I guess they just discovered it's not good to have a fever when you get your flu shot.
