Do you spank your kids?

I seldom spank my kids,i'd rather talk to them and make them realize for the mistakes that they have done.Just explain also to them the reason why did you spank them.It is better to make them understand.

I do tap them yes, I do not go overboard on it and it has to be a situation that really calls for it. As Zukepr said in her response I too was smacked as a child, in fact I had quite a few good hidings from my parents and it did me no harm at all. I know for a fact time out would not have worked on me and it does not always work on my kids either especially when they are getting carried away with their games and their mouths!

Yes, I do spank my daughter and that is only if she has done something to get a spanking. I mean people have different aspects about this topic. It can be a discipline thing. Like i said I only spank her if she has done something really wrong and I want to let her know that it is wrong and that it should not be done again.

I just tap my son's bottom, and scold him in a stern voice. That's all I do because he is just two and a half years old.

My DD is only 5 months, but when she is old enough, she will be spanked. Any future kids that come out of my uterus will also be spanked. I do not feel spanking is abuse nor will it damage a child's ego. I was spanked as a child. My husband was spanked as a child. We have yet to rob anyone, spray paint profanities on the side of buildings or do anything out of anger for being spanked. I do also believe that the parenting "experts" that feel that spanking damages a child either don't have children of their own or took a few children who got *beaten* not spanked and based their theories on that.
