The other day when he was getting off the school bus I saw my almost 9 year old shove something in his pants pocket. I was of course curious what it was. He showed it to me and it was a note from a girl in the other 3rd grade class. It only had 3 words on it. "I LOVE YOU" and he had one of her school pictures too. Aww...it was so sweet. He is embarrassed. He said she likes him and he likes her back. When did your kids have their first crush?

Aw yes, that is just so sweet! And it's lovely that he's talking about it to you.
My daughter's nearly three, so she hasn't had her first crush yet. I can't imagine her having crushes in a few years time! I really didn't have any idea of the age when this happens, so thanks for the heads-up!

That is adorable. About the right time to, if memory serves. My daughter is only 5. But her 1st love is her daddy. There is no doubt about that.

At least your son is nine years old. My son started liking girls since the age of six. He likes blonde girls with long hair. He has a classmate who really likes him and take care of each other. It is an innocent thing. So don't worry about it. It's one of the many girls that you have to deal in your life :)

That's adorable! I think my oldest son was just about that age when I found a note in his pocket - not one from a girl, but TO a girl. I don't remember it verbatim, but I do remember that he wrote something like "I really like you because you are very pretty and the smartest girl I've ever known." I loved it that "smart" was part of his criteria for picking a girl to like.
