what is a screenplay? / myLot

i have heard lately about screenplay. one of my friend asked me to write a screenplay for him. i am normally very good at writing so i agreed to him that i will do it but i have no idea what to do!! please someone help me. how can i write a screenplay, what are the do's and dont's while writing a screenplay. please be descriptive

I have written in my Mother Tongue and was appreciated by some seniors . I am yet to write in English . However , the screenplay writer should keep real life situations in mind & the limitations of producing the Drama / Film .
