I have a tin of sweet and sour sauce in the store cupboard, and thought I would try my hand at making some nearly home made sweet and sour chicken with rice. This is how I am going to make it... any other ideas and advice very gratly recieved. Small pieces of raw chicken, toss them in seasoned flour, then dip them in batter mix and then drop them in boiling oil for a few minuties, drop of kitchen roll and then serve with boiled rice and pour sauce on them. Does that sound about right? The children love them when we get them from the takeaway and always want more! Cos of the credit crunch thought I would try my hand at them, I know they won't taste extacully the same but beggers can't be choosey. Just worried about having a pan of boiling veg oil on the stove as I don't like frying etc Thanking you in advance Anne18

That sounds delicious! It may not taste the same... but if it tastes good, just change it a little as you think it may need... and keep trying! I'm hungry now!
