I just found this out a couple of hours ago. Great comedian (at least in my opinion) Katt Williams has been sent to a mental institution (Haven't found anything about him being released, if you find a link please post it) for a nervous breakdown. The way I see the story from the sources I found is this. He was arrested for having weapons (guns) in plain sight in his car in Escalade in NYC, after police were called for his SUV not having a license plate. After being released, he managed to make his next appearance at a sold out show in Carnegie Hall. But it wasn't that good that he made it, as fans say that his behavior was very erratic, and he hardly made a joke. At the end of the show, he made the announcement that he was no longer doing comedy as of Dec 31st, and taking his career in a different direction. This is where things get weird. The next time Williams is seen, he is wearing a bathrobe and towel around his head. The police are called, but do nothing as he has not committed a crime. Then he goes to the police station to report some brutality on the first incident. The DA leaves him at the office, comes back, and he's mumbling gibberish. His family is called, and he is taken to the psych ward. What could be going on with him? Is it the pressure of stardom? Is he on something? Either way, this is one person I don't want to lose in the limelight, especially unnecessarily. Let me know what you think MyLot. http://ccinsider.comedycentral.com/cc_insider/2008/11/nycf-katt-williams-at-carnegie-hall.html http://theybf.com/index.php/2008/11/10/is-katt-williams-on-that-ish/ http://blogs.bet.com/entertainment/spotlight/katt-williams-sent-to-mental-hospital/

From what the first article says the breakdown was last year some time. As a single father of 9 children though I can understand how that plus the pressures of being on the road and doing shows, being away from his kids, some of whom are special needs children probably has affected his mind in combination with sleep depravation and the pressures that are on him now that he has "blown up" must be tremendous. Besides now that he has "become" Katt Williams he has enough money to take some time and smell the roses with his kids and enjoy his new life and all the money he's made recently. I think he deserves that much, don't you?

He deserves that and much more. I think that his heart got ahead of his mind when he decided to do comedy, and then adopt all those children. Or whichever way it happened lol. He didn't realize that it was next to impossible to be the great parent that is he is, and handle the demand of fame at the same time. He has actually retired from stand up, but I don't see that man staying down for long. He will find a way to keep his pinky toe in the industry, while still holding it down at home for those babies too. He just strikes me as that type of person. I will still miss him though
