How effective are hair implants?

i find that there aer a lot of ads for hair implants these days. has anyone got a hair implant done? how effective is a hair implant/ do the hair take root or are they dead hair and just sticking on to the head? do you repeatedly have to get a hair implant done?

i never got hair implats, but i heard that it's effective. i heard they implant the roots from other hair part of their body and implant it. i heard one you implant, it will last forever (unless you have issue of loosing hair rapidly), so you don't need to do the process again.
