Al-Qaida No. 2 insults Obama with racial epithet. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081119/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_al_qaida_obama It looks like some people were expecting more from Obama, and he is not even office yet....but it does seem like he is, doesn't it?

It is just the beginning of those who will "try" Obama - it was meant to get a reaction from him so they could gauge just how far they could go with him.

That's an excellent point. It will be interesting to see how he deals with them.

I haven't heard of any kind of response from him - I think he's just ignoring them.

I'm not sure he's completely aware of what he'll be facing as President - it's certainly not going to be a bed of roses, and when it becomes apparent that he isn't addressing the things he promised in his campaign, many of his followers may be singing a different tune.

Who did not see this coming. They are desperate for media attention. Look at it as a huge publicity stunt. And it worked. We are talking about them. Do we really care what the terrorist call Obama? They called Bush horrible names too. It is just what they do. They were feeling ignored so they put out this tape to get some attention. Now by no means should we ignore the threat that they pose to use. But why give them anymore air time. They are kinda like Howard Stern. They says shocking things to get attention. Get people talking about them. To try and keep themselves relavent. Obama winning kinda took some of the wind out of their sails. So they were of course going to say something about it.

Why? THey want this war to continue. We are still the enemy. We are not Muslim so they want to "wipe us off the face of the earth". Plus they see us as the last super power. If they drag us down, they are hoping to take our place. Just because we elected a new president is not going to change their plans.

I did not vote for Obama, I do not support him yet and I find his constitutional ideology fundamentaly flawed and dangerous to the propper form of our republic. That being said, as an American, I take personal offense to an outsider insulting our elected servants. I was offended when Chavez stood on my soil and called bush the evil and I am equally offended by this. I wrote a thread a week or 2 ago predicting that Al Quieda would consider him to be an apostate. What is an apostate? It is someoen who converst from Islam to another religion, in effect turning their back on Islam. I realize he has never been a practicing Muslum, HOWEVER, to a Muslum, simply being born of a Muslum father, makes him one by birthright. Lo and behold, out comes a tape with Al Zawheri decrying him for turning his back on Islam and siding with Isreal.

I saw that and meant to post a discussion but then it slipped by... Thanks for posting it. It does seem like he already is in office, doesn't it -- I've even seen a few times on the news where they said President Obama, instead of President-elect Obama. I don't think I've ever seen it this way with a "lame duck" President! But getting on to the racial slur on Obama, I am wondering if they aren't trying to bait him, to see what he will do? A lot of people in this country seem to be expecting huge change -- not related to the economic crisis -- immediately upon taking office, and seem to be wanting to see the signs NOW. It was weird that the terrorists would insult him so personally. Another "first" I think, but why is hard to know. I'm not sure they were expecting him to do anything now -- I am sure they know he is not in office yet. So what was this about? All I can think of is the beginning of the "serious test" that Joe Biden warned of...

Yeah, those old men with sticks are pretty scarey...not. I think they know just what to expect from Obama...he made his plans for Afghanistan and for Osama bin Laden pretty clear during the campaign. So, just like the kid down the street who is never included in anything because he's a jerk, the Big #2 has to put out a video and run his mouth. His remarks were not worthy of a response which is why he received none.

Well I don't think we should worry too much re what Al-Quaida are saying, they are clearly trying to gain attention. I suspect that Alquaida have put this out because they don't know how to react to Obama and they know that he is not Bush. I think they want to paint Obama as just another 'evil' American president, bent on following the 'white imperial agenda'. By doing this, they hope to appeal to their supporters, keep their terrorist breathren fired up and their sympathisers onside. Smells to me like they are a bit worried - I hope they will have a lot of worrying and running to do over the next few years!
