Oh, the dreadful pain.

One day out of every month I have really bad cramps. It lasts for a few hours. Yesterday was that day, though it was in the middle of the night, which is strange for me. But I have noticed that having one day out of the month to suffer doesn't really bother me when I'm not experiencing it. I mean, I think of it is a mini-catharsis. The other 29/30 days of the month are great when I realize at least I'm not having cramps, that day. I can't wait until I can go on birth control or something, because the pain killer I take, Midol, does not help a bit.

Only 1 day? I have at least 2 or 3 days. Which still doesn't seem like much when you look at it logically. But it is not easy to look at it logically when it is happening. Even though you know that you are perfectly fine the other days of the month, to the point that you don't even remember it anymore, it is hard to think reasonably and rationally when you are going through it. I always dread it, it's always as bad as I remember, but then the next thing I know, it's all over again for another month. So, it does help to try to put it all into perspective. :)

Oh, I didn't know you were female because of your picture, haha. Then again, my avatar picture is Flapjack, who is a boy. 2 or 3 days though? Are they all the same or does it at least get better for you?

You probably think I am a bit thick on it EAStanley, but I always thought of you as a male. I am so sorry about this and had to tell you. Hope you forgive me. Take care.

Sheepie: It's okay. I just have to put the picture of the hottest "Survivor" contestant of all time as my avatar. ;) They are mostly all the same. It just depends on whether I break down and take medicine or not. Usually the medicine makes me feel better, but at the expense of making me groggy and not so alert. Thank you for your concern. :) Hildas: It's okay. I had to pay homage to the hottest "Survivor" contestant of all time. :) But I know that not everybody watches. :) Of course I forgive you! :) Take care, too.

Well, have you ever thought of trying Aleve or something first and see if that helps? Most of the time, that is what I use, and that seems to work most of the time for me. You could also discuss this with your Doctor and see what they recommend as well. Just remember that there are sometimes dangerous side effects that come from taking the pill, so you need to be careful with something like that as well. All I can say it is your choice, so just decide which is the best for you.

wow only one day! you are lucky I say before having my children i had no problems but since having them im lucky to get only 7-9 days with bad cramps most months its a lot longer than that birthcontrol would help it but due to a life long kidney condition i cant take any of them so I suffer every month a LOT!!!!

I really feel for you and hope that you are out of pain very soon. I have been very lucky with my periods in that I haven't had two many bad ones in my life and rarely have to take any painkillers.

I am sorry to hear that. I am not sure if a doctor can do something decent for you. I do not trust many doctors anymore.

You may want to bring this up to your mother. If you express your concerns to her and what you think may fix it she may help you. She may at least take you to the doctor and get you some better relief than midol. If it was my daughter having this problem I would do it for her.

I used to have cramps several days out of a month until I had my hysterectomy. I took pain pills also and nothing helped them.

I find its worse having them at night, atleast during the day your not sitting up in bed waiting for the morning to come. But one day isnt bad I usually have it for a few days. I used to get it so bad I would pass out, and have to stay home for a few days till it was all over with. I went on birth control though and its alot better now thank god. But some advice to you...hot water bottles are your best friend

I know how you feel as i am suffering with them at the moment, i get them for about 2-3 days. But i found that before i went on the pill i had pain free periods but as soon as i went on the pill i started getting cramps so it doesn't work for everyone. Now i no longer take the pill i still suffer from cramps so i can't win ever way.

Try lying down with a hot water bottle on your tummy, Sheepie. It really works, and is better than taking horrible tablets (which don't work anyway). It used to work for me when I was a teenager and suffered from those horrible cramps.
