what causes vertigo?

When I wake up one morning, I felt a terrible dizziness that I couldn't even get up on my bed. The more I tried to get up, the more dizzy I became that made me vomit. My mother rushed me into the hospital and the doctor said it was vertigo. The doctor said that the dizziness came from my ear. That roots from stress but it hasn't proven yet. When I asked him where it came from, he said that it hasn't been known yet.. How 'bout you? Do you know where it really came from? Is there any cure for this illness? Is there any way to avoid it?Kindly response please..Thanks a lot! Godspeed...

i don't know the exact cause of vertigo.but i think it has to do with the fluid inside the ears.it's the calcium deposits i think,i forgot about it.actually,my father also has vertigo.he has been encountering that problem for 4 years now.he's been to different doctors and even went to st.luke's for check-up but still no cure.he was quite used to the dizziness now and can manage it well.what i've noticed about it is that it's triggered when one is stressed.
