I am suprised at how many women have them and i dont know anyone that does apart from me. I am pregnant and when I had my ultrasound I was told I had lots of fibroids. Now I had no idea before that. I had no symptoms to make me think I had them. I was told that some women have lots of problems with them expecialy during pregnancy and birth. Do you have or know someone that has fibroids. Any information you can share with me? The doctors dont seem to woried but I am.

Fibroids are growths of tissue that are usually found in the wall of the uterus, or womb. They are made of a mixture of muscle tissue from the uterus and threadlike fibers of connective tissue. Although they are called tumors, fibroids are not cancerous. Fibroids usually shrink after menopause. New fibroids do not develop before puberty or after menopause. Fibroids are very common. They occur in 2 or 3 out of every 10 women over age 35. They occur most often in women between ages 30 and 50, although women in their 20s sometimes have them. It is common to have more than one fibroid. Some women may have as many as a hundred. Fibroids can be as small as a pinpoint or as large as a basketball. They are usually round or oval in shape, like a ball or an egg. Their texture is firm, like an unripe peach. Medical names for a fibroid are leiomyoma, myoma, and fibromyoma. Fibroids can grow in different parts of the uterus. They are named according to which part of the uterus they are found. Here are some facts about fibroids: Fibroids are very common. It is a benign uterine mass that can also be called myoma. It comes from a single muscle cell.It can cause problems if it enlarges fast and if can impede the baby's passages(tumor previa). We don't worry if it is not causing changes in urination, bleeding and if is not yet 8cm in diameter.

hi I was just told I have fibroids, I'm not pregnant I've already had kids I'm 43 Anyway I didn't have any symptoms until April 9 I started bleeding and still haven't stopped Very heavy. So I went and had an ultrasound that's when they found them, a day later I had A biopsy of the uterus lining next week I get those results back. The doctor said most women have them and they're not cancerous, sometimes they don't Cause problems at all and go away after menopause. Because my mom had uterine cancer They're checking on that with me. :)
