My computer used to be lightning fast. Now it is so slow sometime I just get up and leave it alone. It makes surfing the web and MyLotting almost impossible. Nothing wants to load fast the little hour glass just sit there for minutes at a time. I clear my cookies and my temp files, but that doesn't help. I scan for viruses and I don't have any. I thought one time it might be when the internet traffic is heavy but it is at all times. I can be typing and all of a sudden it hesitates and hang there for a few seconds. I even went to control panel and add and remove and I see where nothing new has been installed on my computer. I am the only one that uses it except my twin grandboys when they come over. So can anyone tell me something else to do.

Try installing CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com and running both the Cleaner and Registry tools.

If you don't already have it, also try Spybot Search & Destroy: http://www.spybot.com

I wish I knew what to tell you then that would mean that I knew what to do to mine too. I also am the only one to use my laptop and I don't have much stored in it. Mine takes it by spells. Just a few minutes ago on mylot I was trying to get a reply sent to a discussion and waited and waited. I shut down, restarted and the same thing happened then all of a sudden it started working fast again. I think this time it might have been mylot's problem but I could be wrong but other things were working fine for me.

See if you have too many Documents on "MY Documents" folder. If not, check if you have shortcuts for larger folders, on it. If so, paste the most you can to other folder OUTSIDE the "My Documents". Reboot and check the speed. If continues slow, check if you have installed CorelDraw fonts, or fonts of another source. Fonts are loaded at the beginning and, if there are a lot, it will costs on performance. Hope it helped.

Try scanning it for malwares or internet worm. Do you have a anti virus installed? if not try to use Nod32 antivirus AVG Norton

I will give you the best solution. Nothing will happen now if you defragment, uninstall progammes or do something like that. Step #1 All your computer need is to reinstall a clean copy of windows. Step #2 Then install a good antivirus like kaspersky or norton. Dont connect to internet untill you install it. By doing this your pc will remain at maximam speed as mine... Slowing down of performance is due to spywares. Even you run a complete pc scan then problem will not solved. Some traces will remain as your computer is already effected Do as i mentioned above. Your problem will be solved

Have you defragmented lately? Or ran disk clean up? You also need to run a spyware / adware program. I would also go through and delete any files you are not using. I just did that recently and my computer started to run faster. I put a bunch of stuff on CD and deleted it.

maybe there are a lot of programs running on your pc. my pc used to be like that last week, i just disabled some programs. but it would be hard to tell you which processes should be disabled because you have different programs running on your pc. i also defragmented my drive.

Oh that sounds just like my computer. We have DSL and it's usually fast but lately it's been slow. This morning it took forever to get into mylot so I gave up. I hope you get some answers. I could use some too.

hello there... computers tend to be slower day by day because of many reasons such as registry files junk, duplicate files, the deleted files on recycle bin, missing startup files and many more... i suggest to you to buy TuneUp Utilities 2009 because it's the comprehensive computer tune up utility which speeds and fixes your computer problems... try it for 30 days and you'll know what i mean...
