Hi, I am catching up, areen't I?
The Epson R290, that I mentioned as being whizz bang in the other thread.
It also does an excellent job of scanning slides and negatives, comes with a special holder.
It also prints fantastically on CD and DVD discs.
Been using it for about a year.
No worries.

Hi again, I am a bit off my head I think.
The printer is Epson R290.
The scanner is Medion brand name from Aldi stores.
Maybe I need to go boil my head, it's been a while.
(Scottish saying for 'you idiot')
I can't see the model number, I need glasses.
It does A4, Negs and Slides.
What did you end up getting?
Sorry for being half asleep.

This sounds very much like what my stepchildren are getting for my partner for Christmas. I will have to check with them but my partner has been saying that she wants to have a safe way to store all those slides I took over many years. If she had one of these then she could save the slides onto the hard drive and then onto CD's so they are there together.
It is a great idea I am sure lilaclady as before too long it will be impossible to get parts for the old slide projector. The last time it was repaired about 5 years ago, we found it took months for them to get a replacement part. Even then that got the part of an old projector which was not working and had been broken up for spare parts.
Thanks for starting this discussion lilaclady because if the stepchildren are not getting this for their mother then I can tell them about it anyway. Maybe they can do something about it for the next celebration which will be Mother's Day.
Have fun with the slide and negative scanner when it arrives and please let us know if it works as well as you expect. I am sure that other members besides myself who will be interested to know how well it works and whether there was any complications.

What kind of scanner? I have a i800 Microtek scanner. It's a regular flatbed kind but has the ability of scanning slides and negatives. All of my photos are on slides and negatives as I still don't have a digital camera yet...so this scanner is great to transform my images into the digitized format. My scanner can scan as low as 72 ppi all the way up to 4800 ppi..for negatives and slides I'd recommend at least scanning at 300ppi, at 72ppi the size of the image is the exact same as the size of the negative/slide image..in other words....small. Then with my photoshop I can do a "save for web" that will make it 72ppi but without reduction in size image

This is a little gadget you just plug into an USB port, its not attached to a normal scanner, its just for slides and negatives...I have so many slides from years ago, it will be great so long as the quality is good though...heres hoping...

What is the name of the scanner...never heard of such a small device you just plug into a computer...doesn't sound right for some reason...either you have scanners like the flatbed kind like I have or a regular film scanner like the Nikon Coolscan...

Hello lilaclady. I have not such a scanner. In fact, I don't have any scanner with me. But my nephew has one. I don't know how to use it. I think that I will be able to learn it when having got one. Happy posting, friend.

I don't use the negative scanners, as it is now fading away...... the rise of digital cameras, I can take some better photographs and load on the computer without a scanner......

no I don't but My brother dose, I've never used it though... When i brought my photo scanner a few years ago they had just brought them out and i was a little reluctant to purchase one and plus they were more expensive then because they were new.... I think they are a great idea though seeing as though everything is pretty much digital, it is great to hunt up old negatives and print them as new...
I hope you have lots of fun with it... It will aid is scrappbooking old memories(if you do that??)

Hi lilaclady,
That would be very clever, no I haven't got one and I wouldn't know how to use one but it is very exciting as you can load old photos up on your computers, well done.

Hello my friend lilaclady Ji,
Wow!, I could never imagine it. My hubby has a big stock of old negatives, which he keeps preserving and takes all time care at regular intervals. I just do not have any idea, but I am excited to know about those technic. It is very good discussion. Let's hope, somebody comes out with some positive solutions. May god bless you and have a great time.
