Are they kidding me??? My niece is a size 11 and says that she wants to lose at least 20 pounds. She is nice and tall and looks great the way that she is. If she loses too much more weight, she is not going to look healthy anymore. If plus size is size eight, why can't she be happy being a plus size model. She is only 20 years old.
I do not like the idea of her getting into a sickness behind thinking that she is overweight. Bone skinny women are not even very attractive. In fact, most of them look down right gross. Do most women go into modeling because they don't feel good about themselves, so they need other to praise them or do they do it because they feel the world would be deprived if they did not see them strut their stuff.
I know for my niece, she is more of the first than the second. She drove me home from my sister's house today and we got a chance to really talk. She is the one dating the 46 year old man. Because I casually brought him up without being harsh or judging, she confided that she wanted to break up with him and be celibate until marriage. But she says when she tells him how she feels, he gets mad and tries to make her feel guilty, like she owes him for all he done for her.
I told her that he has never given her anything more precious than her body and that she does not owe him anything. I told her to stop telling him what she is planning to do and just do it. I told her, you are not married to him, but it is like you are asking his permission to leave him. I said, of course he is going to get made. I said, if he gets mad, just tune him out like nothing is wrong. This jerk is also married.
Right now, he is paying her rent, because she got laid off, but she took this time to get her GED. I am very proud of her and I pray that she finds that courage to leave this jerk alone forever. She is planning to get an apartment with her younger sister soon. I told her that when she moves, don't even tell him. Just go forward and don't look back.

You gave your niece some good advice, she don't owe him anything. I hope it all works out for her. As for her being a size 11 and wanting to lose weight, she sounds fine to me. oh my, I would love to be a size 11, I would be looking good. That would be skinny for me. I agree with you, the skinny girls mostly do look like they are sick. Back in the day women with some meat on their bones were considered sexier then the skinny ones. I hope she listens to you.

I hope she listens and leaves this jerk alone too. I went through the same thing that she is going through and I know how controlling men can be, when they are seeing much younger women. They are even able to convince you that your own family does not care about you. It is really sad, but unfortunately, it is not illegal.

Who says that a size 8 is plus size. I thought plus size was anyone who is a size 14 or over?I don't know why women go into modeling. I think a lot of them do it because they have a lot of confidence in their bodies and like to show them off, like you said. Or, they like the "lifestyle" that a model has.

I almost spat out my coffee when I read your comment that a size 8 was a plus sized model... I thought 16 was the size for plus size models. I would have your neice change agents or find another photo agency to work with. Tell her she looks fine the way she does too. The last thing you need is findng out she has health issues and doing anything crazy to try to lose weight. I hope she doesn't go that far.
