I am really puzzled as I have lost 4 posts today and I cannot figure out why. I wish mylot would inform us when a post is deleted so that we can have some idea what the discussion was any maybe work out where we went wrong? Do you think it would be good if we were sent a message when a post was deleted?

I think it would be great if they informed us. At least give a reason as to why it was deleted so that the mistake can't happen again. Great idea!

I noticed today that a discussion in which I participated has been deleted. I think it's because there was a guy there who was making responses to other peoples' replies saying things like "I know a site where you can make lots of money by posting blah blah blah ...if you want to know more send me a friend request." Not only were his replies completely irrelevant to the discussion, but he was obviously fishing for people to join under him. I'm not surprised that somebody saw fit to report him, but it is a little bit annoying that the whole discussion got deleted. It was actually quite a useful discussion for people who write at a certain website, and all of that information is now gone!

I dislike people who do that. I had a guy on one of my discussions doing that and it was his first post. I told him off and he said he knew it was against the rules and didn't care. I marked him negative but my partner says I should have reported him. I have not lost a discussion as far as I know but I do lose posts on other people's discussions and I am sure that the discussion did not violate any rules that is why I get so puzzled when I lose posts. I can understand losing one post in a day but 4 seemed very odd. Still as myklj pointed out someone's entire list of discussions were deleted yesterday so that might be why.

Sorry, I was so busy ranting that I didn't actually answer your question.. Perhaps something similar happened to your discussions. I'm sure that it was nothing to do with you, more likely that someone has posted something careless or downright illegal and lost all the other contributors' posts in the process. I agree that it would be helpful if we were emailed and told why we lost posts, but perhaps this would be too difficult to organise. Maybe when they delete a discussion, rather than just saying "This discussion has now been deleted", they could give us some kind of indication about why it was deleted. (Or, of course, just delete the offending posts, rather than the entire discussion!!)

well i guess there should be a notification to the users when their posts are being deleted but i guess i cant really say much as i have never been notified cos my posts till date havent been deleted even the ones which have no resposes since past 2 years..... i guess i can call it luck or rather ignorance !!

Yes, it has happened to me too. Most of the times, I really lose count of where I ended the last time, but there are some landmark numbers I just remember. Like reaching 3000 posts…I distinctly remembered signing off at 3000 but next day, I was back to 2998. that was really bad and demotivating. They should really inform us whenever they deleted a post.

It can be de motivating. I know my partner was trying to reach a certain number last night and when the 4 posts went he gave up for the day. It is frustrating. I am not that concerned about being told about deletions but if I knew why so I could figure out if I made a mistake on choosing the discussion or if the person have broken some rule and they deleted more than just one post as a punishment.

No I do not think they should inform us. The rules about what to post and what not to post are simple if you read them a few times and if you avoid responding on discussions which are violations you will not lose posts. If they go they were violating and it would only be extra work for myLot if they had to inform each time. Happy posting!

I know the rules very well and I have never broken them. Not once yet I still lose posts when a discussion I reply to gets deleted. I have always been very careful to avoid discussions that violate the guidelines which is why I am so surprised when I get posts deleted. I have never had a discussion deleted. When I have managed to work out which discussion it was, as I can by going back through the activity list, I cannot understand how it violated any guidelines. All I can think of is that someone just did not like it so they reported it as abuse when it was not and mylot do not seem to check they just delete anything that people report as abusive. That means that if someone wanted to make your life difficult they could just go and report every discussion you ever started as a violation. That does not seem fair to me.

Ah myklj maybe that is why we lost posts today. It seemed odd that both grandpa and I lost 4 posts each but then we do stalk each other. Just to see if we found something interesting that the other missed. I did not know they deleted every discussion even then ok ones.

@ mykl So right they were to delete all the posts of a cheater! That of course is an exception and sad for those who were good enough to respond to his/her discussions but even so I still do not think they should be informing us when they delete.

i think, mylot should inform us whenever our posts were deleted. yesterday, i also lost 2 of my posts, but i did know that i have not post anything that would violate the rules. so i, too, dont have any idea what were those 2, so i could understand why they were being deleted.

You probably did not do anything to break the rules but the whole discussion is deleted which means that the person who wrote the discussion broke the rules in some way. I do not think they delete a discussion for just one post.
