It's Not Like Riding A Bike

I recently bought some roller skates. I have been having dreams about roller skating again, for years. When I was younger I could skate real good. My cousin and I would skate all over the neighborhood. But one thing that I have realized is that I am going to have to learn to roller skate all over again. It is fun, but nerve racking at the same time. I am not as young as I use to be. So I can not just bounce back up and keep going after falling, but I am determined to skate again. I was reading about learning to skate on a website for kids. It was saying that the first thing that you have to do is deal with your fear of falling. You do this buy purchasing the right kind of protective gear. Which I have done. Then you have to get your balance back by practicing on the grass at first. I have not made it to the park down the street yet, but I am on my way real soon. I wish that I could wait until the summer to learn, but I want to be skating by then. I do not want to put off learning any longer than I have to. Have you ever stopped doing something for so long, that when you finally went back to it, you did not know how any longer? http://www.essortment.com/family/kidsactivities_shca.htm

We go ice skating regularly in the winter. I'm not great at it, but I don't fall down so I guess I'm okay. We haven't gone in awhile, we should definitely go this year. I used to love roller skating as a kid and wouldn't mind doing that again either.

I am so lacking in balance that I can no longer ride a bike. I tried, I fell, I had a hard time getting back up.
