Does your all in one need a computer?

I have an elderly friend who does not use a computer at all but is always running to town to have copies made of this or that. I was looking at an all in one today thinking I would get it for her to use for her scanning/copying needs as she has a difficulty getting around and it would save her those rough drives to town. Only I could not find on the outside of the boxes whether or not a computer is needed to use the machine. Are you able to use yours without a computer being hooked up to it? what brand/style do you use?

There are photocopying machines-slash-printer-slash-scanner that don't need computers plugged in for just copying stuff. My dad has one and it's HP I think. You can ask the sales rep for help and I think they'd be more than happy to assist you to find what you'd like to buy :) But I'm pretty sure there's a small, decent photocopier that doesn't need to be plugged into a computer. Thanks for the comment on my discussion!

I have an HP printer and it is plugged in but not hooked up and I can still make copies. Its one of those all in one printers. My suggestion is to try a thrift store - you may find a copier for cheap. Wish you lived here in Pittsburgh I was just looking at a nice copier at the thrift store yesterday!!

I have never tried that....so only know how it works with one....but that is a very good idea to give someone who has difficulty getting around.

hi, Jill. Yes, I think it would be useful for her... so long as the computer is not needed.
