Screening calls

I am one that likes to screen my calls. There are just some times that I do not wish to talk to some people. Do you ever screen your calls? Are there people that you do not care to talk to all the time? Am I wrong for doing this?

It is your home. You are neither obligated to answer your phone or your door if you do not wish to. We are not at the mercy of others in our own home. We are obligated to be polite however when dealing with them but we are entitled to our privacy in our own home. You need not explain or lie about not answering either. "Sorry I missed your call" should be enough.

It always helps when we know that there are many others who feel the same way we do!

I also screen my calls. I love having caller ID. It has come in real handy. espically if I don't know a number. I do not pick up. They leave a message if it is important. I do screen my calls from certain people I do not wish to talk to at the moment. Like certain in laws.

Yeah it really does come in handy. I like my most of my in laws so I am okay there. It is mainly exe's that I do not want to hear from. Thanks.

I call screen, but it's mostly because we get a huge amount of calls for someone who doesn't even live here. There are always debt collection companies, or loan companies ringing to speak to this woman, and they can get really aggressive when they're told they have the wrong number. That said, I always check the number on the caller display, and if it's someone I don't want to talk to for any reason, I just ignore the call and then return it later.

That must be a real pain, having debt collectors call for someone that is not there. Thanks for posting.

I do this as well sometimes. I only have a mobile so I can always see who is calling. Sometimes I see that it will be someone calling that will want to have a long conversation and if I can't be bothered I just leave it to ring. I don't think there's anything wrong with it because otherwise I will just end up being short tempered with the person on the other end of the phone.

That is so true. I just get frusterated with people that want to talk for a long time especially if I am busy.

i screen my calls mainly because there are some people I may not want to talk to at the moment. Creditors are calling me now also. I am not trying to duck my obligation, but there is nothing I can tell them, because I do not have the money at the moment to pay the bills, if I did, I would pay it. I understand they are doing their jobs, but without any money there is no offer they can give me that can help, at this point I am totally broke. I pray that things will get better with me soon, and I will not be getting any more of those calls. I have a sister in law, who always calls to tell us her problems, I have my own and most of the time am not willing to listen to hers, she goes on for hours.

I also have some creditors calling. They also get so rude when you tell them you have no money right now. Thanks for sharing.
