I'm sad...I spilt coffee on my laptop. My mouse doesnt work on my laptop right now (hoping it will when it dries out)When i did it i flipped the laptop over so it could drain out right away while i ran for a paper towel to mop up the spill.
I've done this before with a bottle of doctor pepper (you'd think i'd have learnt by now) and the mouse stopped then too for about a week then started up again. Luckily i have a wireless mouse to use in the mean time.
Have you ever spilt anything on your pc? Did it damage it? Did it stop working then start again?

Hello, Saundyl.
Ooops... Somebody spilled the coffee in the laptop! That is pretty bad. In fact, you should be extra careful when drinking/eating near your computer. If possible, you should avoid it. Just because it is comfortable doesn't mean it is safe. I really do hope that it starts working again, but I honestly doubt that it will. It might have affected the small circuits inside your laptop, which will damage the connection between the mouse and the laptop. At least you still have your wireless mouse! I'd say: get used to your new mouse. Do not get your hopes too high, because the old mouse might never work again. Neither the old, nor any new mouse that can be connected.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

No I have never spilt any liquid on any computer, desktop and acessories or laptop. I bring a cup of coffee in to my desktop every week day morning and set just inches from my mouse and haven't even come close, knocking on wood, and have taken my laptop to restuarants, etc. and had no problem.

I a always so terrified of this happening that I keep all liquids far away from my computer.
But I have dropped a digital camera and a cell phone in the water, and they did work after they dried out. The camera was never quite right afterward, but it did work. The phone came back a little at a time. I could make and receive calls, but the display didn't work. After about a week it was back to normal.
I hope your computer recovers, it would be a shame for it to be ruined. But a valuable lesson learned-- be careful!!

Ohh dropping them in water thats not good. My sister was making apple juice last summer and dumped boiling juice on my mom's cell phone it never did come back.
So far the mouse is starting to come back - my mom was laughing at me sitting and sucking the liquid out of the edges of it (yes i had the laptop up to my mouth and trying to suck the stuff out)

Hey saundyl! I did spill soda on my last keyboard and I killed
it! I am trying to be alot more careful with this one though!
I have a table to the side of me and I make sure to turn away
from the pc and keyboard when I take a drink so that I don't
spill anything on the keyboard only on me! Oh, and I do spill
it on me! I spilled it on my shirt yesterday because I missed
my mouth! So you know I am staying away from the keyboard at
all costs! I can't afford to keep replacing things on the
computer! I had better not ever get a laptop! That would be just
too dangerous for me!

A table to the side is a good idea!
Replacing things on the pc can get expensive. I noticed that theres "spill resistant" laptops made by lenovo the water just runs through them as the keys are a sealed tray rather than open into the circuitry they did a demo last month at a conference i was at with one of those huge slurpies...dumped it on the laptop and let it melt. The thing kept working.
Next laptop i get is gonna be a lenovo (they used to be called IBM)
