Ear Stretching Question: Is This Normal?

I've stretched my ears a few gauges now, but now I'm having a problem with a method I just tried for the first time. Normally, I either just force the new size earring through (did this for 16G to 14G, and before that whenever the hole closed quite a bit to almost all the way) or I use an acrylic taper and stretch gradually (did this for 14G to 12G, it took half a week to complete that stretch). This last stretch (12G to 10G), the store was out of acrylic tapers. So I got a steel taper. I can't wear steel for long without my ear getting all nasty allergic. So the gradual method was out. I waited 3 months in between stretching, so I read that it was okay to just get the taper through and put in the glass plugs immediately. So that's what I did. I had to heat up my ears considerably for this because my ears are just plain not easily stretchy. But I got the taper through. Then the glass wouldn't go in. So I ended up doing the taper 3 times on the one ear. Then the other ear it only took one try and a good shove on the glass to get it in. It hurt like crazy, but there was no blood. Now the glass plugs have been in for 3 days. But they're still stuck in there pretty good so I'm not removing them unless I have to. But all of the sudden now there is yellow gunk leaking out the back of my ear, just like back when I had allergy problems. Except that this can't be an allergy, because the plugs are pyrex glass. So is this normal with this fast stretching method? Will it just heal on it's own? I'm using some warm salt water to help it heal, but is that enough? Thanks in advance for any help! I think I will done with ear stretching soon because my ears are evil and do not want to cooperate with this. But that's okay because I have almost reached my goal anyway.
