The shopping is 99% done!

We were a bit naughty, but it feels good. Hubby got his insurace check, which we were supposed to use to fix my van. But we decided to finish the Christmas shopping with it instead. He will be getting a larger check in a few weeks, and we'll use that to fix my van (the van isn't dying, just can't be inspected currently, still usable though). Anyways, we had about $500 so we paid off our layaway and grabbed a few more gifts for each child. The baby, the toddler, and my oldest are DONE!! My daughter only needs 2 more things, that will be little mixes for her easy bake oven, they're like $5 each. My 6 year old son needs a couple more things because he doesn't have quite as many gifts as his siblings, but all his big things are out of the way. His remaining gifts will be nonsense type things like some play dough or something like that. I think he needs like 4 more little things to catch up to his siblings. Now I just have to finish up on the hubby's gifts and get the stocking stuffers. It feels so good to be this close to being done this early. We've never finished our Christmas shopping early. Most years we're dashing around on Christmas Eve trying to get it all done. I am so in the holiday spirit now. It takes such a load off to have it done! Only a few weeks left, how's your shopping coming? Is there anything in particular you're going to get still? Is anyone on your list actually completely done?

I couldn't shop all year long, I'd end up losing things or forgetting about them, or they'd get destroyed somehow. But next year I do plan on saving money all year long so there's not as much of a crunch at the end of the year.

I don't have anything in particular left on my shopping list. I have like 6 presents each for the kids. I might do a few more. My daughters gifts are pretty inexpensive, but she is too young to care anyway. My son got the main thing he wanted, so the rest is just filler.

My son has half clothes and half toys, but 2 of the clothing items he will actually be excited about getting. He is getting 2 Ben 10 t-shirts. He loves Ben 10, but he has no clothing with Ben 10 on it yet. Actually, all of his gifts, but 2 have something to do with Ben 10. He is quite the fan. My daughter is obsessed with DORA, so I got her a bunch of little DORA items. She would not care if I gave her an empty box if it had DORA on it.

My younger 2 only have 5-7 presents total, but they don't really care at all. The older 3 have 10-11 presents each, about 5 being toys.

Well it is a week to go and I am not sure whether I am done or not. This year because of how badly my kids look after their things I decided to put the brakes on the spending and cut down on what i normally buy them and I have. I have bought them one main present each and then the rest is just clothes stocking fillers etc. Of course now it is getting nearer I am starting to feel guilty that I have not got them much and plus my MIL has absolutely gone overboard on her gifts and now I feel mean lol. I am thinking of just getting them a couple more bits each this week, other than that im done, just have to wrap it all!!

I think you've done fine. It's a grandparents job to go overboard. You don't need them getting spoiled, and I know you got them the one thing they truly wanted. I think that will be fine. That's about what we do is get them 1 big thing, a few smaller things, then some clothes and such.

I'm very envious! I have only bought a few gifts so far, and haven't even decided what to buy for the others. Couple that with the fact that the majority of my gifts will need to posted overseas, and you'll realise how behind I feel!!! Yesterday my friend went intot he city to one of the big supermarkets and bought me a whole load of hard to find locally ingredients for Christmas baking. That's one thing out of the way, and I expect we'll have a baking day next week sometime. My son's birthday is also just before Christmas, so I have that to think of too.

We now have all the children's big gifts so just need to do small gifts and some more gifts for other people. We are actually going to get all the gifts out tomorrow afternoon and write a list so we know where we really are. But I'm always dashing around for last min things on christmas eve

I kept a list on my computer everytime I bought something so I could see where I was. It helps to see it like that, so you know exactly what you have and what you don't have. This is why I know my son needs 4 more things to catch up to his siblings.

I'm happy for you. It makes the holidays so much more enjoyable when you have the bulk of your shopping out of the way. I am pretty much done. I have a couple of friends I want to pick up something small for but other than that I am done. Good Luck with your van I hope you get it fixed before Christmas and you'll be set! LOL Now you have the job of hiding everything Good Luck with that! LOL

I have a decent hiding spot, in the corner of my bedroom, under a blanket, lol. They don't go in there often, so it's a good spot. I'll probably start wrapping tomorrow.
