As most of you know I have a online craft store, well I opened my email today and there is a email from a competitor who has join my affiliate. I might be ignorant what the heck is an affiliate. I did not know I had one for someone to join. Why would someone who sell similar items do that? I read the email and then I check their website out. I am baffled.

I see they answered your question. ZBut I just want to let you know that I love your site. Actually I really wanted to create something like that too but i have no idea how to go about it. I make a lot of hand crafted jewelry and would love to make some money from it. But I don't even know where to get started. But I love how your form is simple but unique and very colorful.
I hope I can learn a little from you :)

The site is from Papa shop. They did the bulk of the work. They make it really easy. They charge I think $12.95 per month. I am still working on getting the site together. I am hoping and praying for big things in 2009. Thanks for the positive feedback.

An affiliate is similar to what a referral would be on myLot. When your referral makes money, so do you. It works the same for affiliates, they earn money and you receive a small percentage of the their earnings. I believe the idea is with affiliates, you are supposed to mentor them, so they can learn how to earn and you get paid for your efforts.
I guess this means you should be seeing some residual income coming your way soon?
...okay, maybe not.
It is quite baffling... if you choose to contact them, you might want to use a gmail or hotmail address. You never know, it could be a scam in the making.

Sorry, I don't really know the answer to your questions. Usually an affiliate is someone who joins under your username and you earn a percentage of profit from their sales. Perhaps the person is trying to link their store with yours? I don't know what the purpose would be.
