Russ Limbaugh seems to infer that Obama was very clever in his choice of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State as this appointment could defer her from running for the presidency in 2012. I have three questions:
1. Do you think this was perhaps one of the main reasons for her appointment.
2. Do you think she would have to imply that her "boss" was no good as president even although he gave her such a high position.
3. This could be thought of a being disloyal and would this go against her in a future campaign?

And perhaps if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a bloody duck. Maybe he has appointed her simply because she is the best candidate for the job? I'm as cynical as the next man when it comes to politicians, but sometimes the simple answer is the right one.

But Barack Obama said that she isn't qualified to be president because of her lack of foreign policy experience. How can he consider her the best candidate to run his foreign policy if he thinks she has no experience in it?
Yes, if it walks like a duck, looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck... but he doesn't think she walks, looks or quacks like a qualified Secretary of State... yet he named her anyway.

I do not agree but it does not really matter. I think she is a good choice for the job and he needs experienced people in the job. Anyway, unless Obama is extremely unpopular in his first term she is not going to challenge him when he runs for a second. She is more likely to wait for him to step down and then run.
It is almost impossible to replace a popular president. If he is still as popular in 4 years time then she would be a fool to challenge. If he makes a mess of things and people want him out then she could challenge but it would be hard for the party to win.
So I do not see it makes any difference.

I think the only reason Obama was able to secure the nomination without ending up in the Clinton Machine crosshairs was he and Hillary already sealed this deal. It is a win win situation for both of them.

I really don't think there was much of a chance that Hillary would challenge Obama for the nomination in 2012 to begin with unless something absolutely terrible happened and he'd lost all favor with the voters. Of course, I'm not afraid to admit I would NEVER agree with anything Rush Limbaugh said just as a matter of principle...lol! I'll try to answer your questions, though:
1/ No, I don't think this was a reason for her appointment. Here's what I've been hearing recently - Obama asked Joe Biden whether he'd prefer to be V.P. or Secretary of State and he chose V.P. Biden was instrumental in Hillary being selected as Secretary of State.
2/ Obviously, if she WERE to seek the nomination in 2012 she'd have to imply her "
"boss" was no good, otherwise how could she justify challenging him.
3/ Again, to me it's obvious that if she were to do so she'd definitely alienate her base for dividing the party which it clearly would.

The appointment of Hillary Clinton to Secretary of State was either brillant on the part of 0bama and stupid on the part of Hillary Clinton to accept or an indication 0bama is being blackmailed by Clinton.
Blackmail? Ridiculous? No, it is entirely possible. Consider that Hillary Clinton is a brillant political tactician. Do you think she would ordinarily accept a position that requires her to resign her safe Senate seat to accept a position in which 0bama, her biggest political enemy, has the complete authority to fire her without cause, which would leave her out in the political wilderness alone, unemployed, and out of power? Of course, she would not leave herself so vulnerable, unless perhaps, she has some insurance that does not allow 0bama to gratiously fire her!
That's my hypothsis, and I'm sticking to it, for now.
