Would you ask a guy out for a date?

Well I have so many girl friends who ask guys for a date and it shocks me. They were telling me guys don't take it negatively as long as they know how to present their selves and doesn't sound pathetic, and as long as they know that the guy really likes them too. If I were single today I wouldn't. I still believe that it is the guy who should ask for a date.

I guess the "guy" means "boy"? It's normal for a girl to ask a boy for a date in modern times.However in my country most girls don't do so,such as me.Perhaps it‘s boy’s privilege in traditional mind.
