Let me say first I have no issues with the vast majority of police officers or departments and have a vast amount of respect for the law and those who uphold it.I know a good number of them and most are faithfull in serving their communities and do a dangerous, tiring, difficult and often thankless job. Now, that being said, there is always a bad apple or 2 to spoil the barrel. such as the Massachusits state trooper in recent news who demanded proof of pregnancy of a woman in labor, trying to get to the hospital. It is a shame because it takes legitimacy and trust away from the majority of the dedicated public servants risking their lives every day for us. Well, look out crooked cops. This story broke after the Odessa narcotics unit perportedly illegally compelled an informant to plant marijuana on Yolanda Madden and she was subsiquently charged with possesin with intent to distribute. The informant testified in federal court he planted the drugs on her and evena polygraph. Yolanda was sentenced to 8 years in prison. The story doesn't end there, Enter Kopbusters, a new reality show set up to sting crooked cops and investigations. http://www.cbs7kosa.com/news/details.asp?ID=9786 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3Fu4YVH8nA

I'm sorry, but I just don't know that I can agree the cop in the pregnant woman incident is a bad cop. Yes, he made a bad judgment call in asking her to show him her pregnancy and slowing down their trip to the hospital. That doesn't make him a bad cop.

I don't know that he fits the definition of corrupt, but his judgment is seriously in question and it seems he took his authority a bit too far. These guys though are going after much bigger fish.

Excellent post xfactor! I too have known plenty of good cops, but all it takes is a few jerks to make an entire department look bad. I really hope these guys do a great job of ferreting out the bad apples and helping to clean up the police that are responsible for keeping the rest of us safe.

Good I'm glad there's finally something to keep crooked cops in check. You know that living in our current society police officers have so much authority over everyone else. They can twist the story and plant evidence and really you pretty much have to do what they say. I don't know why we place all this power into other human beings' hands so that they can rule over other human beings. Who are they to do decide what's right and what's wrong?
