Ice crystals are absolutely amazing to see and watch. This shot here started off as a large drop of dew from opening the door to let Buster outside and the heat from the house hitting the ice covered window. Now after a few minutes I opened the door again and here was this Christmass Wreath ice crystal. Cool or what? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yes that is very cool looking. You need to see about publishing a book with your ice crystal discoveries after you get enough of them together.

It's true, Grandpa Bob, you have photos that are great and are publishable. Why not think about it.

Very, very cool! My first time to see something like that! How big was it? How long did it last? On rare occasions, freak weather conditions allow ice crystals instead of rainwater to fall over here in tropical Philippines. I once witnessed such - the ice were perfectly round-shaped convex on both sides and about 1 inch in diameter. They melted fast. Happy mylotting!

It was about the size of an average mans fist maybe. It is still on the door somewaht right now. The heat from opening and closing the door has caused drips to stretch the shape now so it is a long oval wreath now. Thanks also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

they are beautiful but can be dangerous if they fall from the roof onto your head.

It seems really cool! But I don't really know what an ice crystal is, I've never seen it before, as I'm staying in a tropical country where there is no winter, no snow. How nice if I have a chance to see it by myself!

Ice crystals are formed on a cold piece of glass/plastic etc when water condenses on the cold glass then it freezes almost instantly. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hey Grandpa Bob! That is just amazing! It really does look like a Christmas Wreath! I don't know how you keep getting those shots of all these ice crystals forming that look like Christmas decorations! This one is really beautiful! I guess you were glad that Buster had to go out and the come back inside when he did! What amazing timing!

Yeah it's amazing huh? This one was sort of man created by my blowing onto the window then waiting for it to melt/freeze instantly. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

This one is really beautiful. How on earth do they take these shapes. It is amazing to me. It does look like a Christmas wreath. I think I will try a few close ups with my camera of these unique patterns that form. They are really something.

I checked out your ice crystals, they are very different especially since it is the holidays and they are forming holiday themes.. Ice is fascinating to watch, the process of freezing and thawing is fun to watch.. When we have ice on the windshield, I make my husband let me scrape it off, I do it in patterns, he thinks that I am crazy, but I get to watch it melt in the patterns while I am waiting in the car for it to warm up.. I also love to watch for the patterns that form on the window glass..
