I am putting this under Chevrolet but really it is automobile. It might be one of those dumb discussions to you but I still want your response. I was traveling down the interstate today going to work and it was raining, every automobile had its windshield wipers on. A car was fast approaching me from behind. I pulled over in the right lane so it could pass. I was traveling behind this car and I could only see one windshield wiper, I am looking at this from my car through the car in front of me back window. The car pulled in front of me and continued on its way. I kept looking at the windshield wiper of this car, one wiper, I got to get a little closer so I sped up and got close enough so that I could be sure, I was also looking at the name and make of this car, that wasn't good enough I passed this car and got in front of it and sure enough this car had one wiper and that is the way it was made one big wiper that was large enough to cover the whole front windshield it was an E320 made by Chrysler. Have you seen a car with only one windshield wiper? And I am not talking about one broken.

I saw one for the first time not to long ago and like you it took me awhile to realize that it really only had one windshield wiper!! I don't know how well it would work for clearing your windshield but I guess I would have to drive one in the rain to really find out for sure. For now though I think I will stick to having two cause at least if one breaks while you are driving you still have one to keep you going on your way!!

That is if the one on the passenger side breaks. I prefer two to. And I like my wipers wiping in the same directions, and not one meeting the other. Isn't that ridiculous.

I am the same way they have to be going in the same direction or it will drive me crazy. I have actually had to drive home with only my passenger side wiper. It wasn't the easiest thing to do but it helped quite a bit!!

how odd that must look. I wonder how effective it is. how does it span enough of the windshield without going off the edge? is it joined at the middle or from the left or right? or does it slide across like this | | | | | | from left to right?

It is centered in the middle of the windshield and sweeps back and forth across the entire windshield.

When I first started reading this I thought it was going to be about a car with one broken wiper and driving around like that. I have never seen one with only one wiper and made that way. I am just trying to figure out if it would dry off more of an area with just one or if two are better.

Hi Chevee, Its common over here in the UK, even our buses have them now, well we have to as we have to much rain here hehe. I had to ask my husband first and he told me it was common here. Hugs. Tamara

Hi Chevee. I've never seen a car with only one windshield wiper. That must've looked weird. I've see them with one wiper on the back window but never one on the front.

I cannot remember ever seeing any vehicle with only one windshield wipe. I think my reaction would have been the same as yours. I would have to look again, and probably again, to make sure I was really seeing it.
