I was at a Business Before Hours event the other day. They were giving away shoe shine kits and small growing Christmas trees. I snagged enough for the stockings I have to fill. I go to alot of business events where they do give aways like this, so I am keeping my eyes peeled for goodies. Do you have any good ideas for cheap to free stocking stuffers? We have three foot tall stockings to fill. Our family doesn't really do presents, just the stockings! I am also making spice blends and hit coca mix and burning cds to put in there. Any other ideas?

That is a big stocking to fill!! I start getting stuff for the stockings right away. I have tons of free samples that I got from freebie sites all year long. Then I just went out and bought some candy to top it all off. Is the one stocking for your entire family? Since you don't do presents, does everyone share what is in the stocking?

The three foot stocking is each individual person. Then we have 1 5ft stocking that goes to one family each year. For example, this year it goes to my brother's family. They just moved back to the US from the Phillipines. We as a family love to camp, they don't have the supplies, so that is what is going in their stocking. tent, sleeping bags etc.

What a nice tradition you have. I think it is great having one stocking that goes to one family.

We always put oranges in the stockings at pur house. I am not sure where it ever started but it has been something my family has done since My Grandma had her kids. We also get cheap things like chapstick and treats. I get free samples all year long and occasionly they end up in stockings but most of the time I go to the dollar store and stock up there. I have young kids and they are much easier to please. We got coloring books, bath poofs, toys, games, and we got them thoes punch balls on a string. They are really just big ballons but I can inflate them Christmas eve and my kids get so excited to see them on Christmas morning.

Wow! Those are some really big stockings! We just have the regular size stockings here but I usually put pencils and candy, play doh, little necklaces or matchbox cars in there. A lot of the stuff I get at the Dollar Store or when Walgreens has a really great sale on the stocking stuffer items I buy them then. I don't know of any place you can find free stocking stuffers. I have never done that. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor. I am almost done with getting the items for the stockings at this point thank goodness! Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

if you know know someone who sells Avon or Mary Kay or Beauty control alot of the time they have free samples you could get your hands on (i sold avon for a while and they sent me alot of free stuff) My aunt works for They Bay and she get free testers of perfume to give out so if you know someone who does that those are always nice. My family tends to do things like chocolate, lip balm, batteries, an orange, some candy, hair ties, earrings, socks. Other things you can do are like homemade candies or knitting. (i put dishclothes i make in my parents and grandparents stockings) This year i went to vista print and ordered the free pen the free stickypad the free business cards for my dad and all i paid was shipping. It worked out really nicely.

We're not really big on stockings. We have small stockings for our family. Usually for hubby I'll buy him like aftershave, a razor, some deodarant, things like that. The kids always get a toothbrush in their stocking, and this year everyone is getting a new bath poof, and hats, mittens, or socks, depending on who needs what. Other than that I get the rest of the stuff at the dollar store. I'll get a couple small stuffed animals or little toys, along with all the candy. So I really don't spend much on stocking stuffers.

One thing that I can think of are the little travel size amenities and shampoos that you get from hotels. I'm not saying stick a soap that says "Stay at Holiday Inn" in you stocking but some of them are really of good quality and brand. I have a bag full of Bath and Body shampoo, conditioner, etc. that I always give away to friends if they want them.
