Do you believe the way we write reflects our characteristics?

Once I suffered from depression. Being the type of person who prefers to keep personal problems to oneself I suffered a lot. I went downhill within a few weeks. My handwriting and signature changed completely. I could not use my old signature however hard I tried, and I had to inform the bank of the change. For two years I suffered in silence. Then slowly my handwriting and signature slowly reverted back to my previous style. After three years the reversal was almost complete.
Later on I read that the way we write using pen and paper reflects our mental state. This in turn affects our behaviour and characteristics.
Have you heard or how much do you know about this assertion? Did something similar happen to you or to someone close to you? Do you think character analysis based on handwriting is reliable?

I don't know about handwriting but words that we write have great impact on the minds of some people. I have experience it here in mylot. I am pleasantly surprise that I was told by a number of my responders that they like the way I express myself through my posts and would tail follow my discussions and they have the chic to tell me that they will follow my discussions regardless. Sometimes I really feel that I am being stalked by certain people. If you think handwriting can reflect the characters of men then what about doctors handwriting? The doctors all have similar handwriting, they write where no one else can read except people in the medical profession.

Maybe there is a grain of truth in the research that writings can detect the mood or character of a person but what about the words a person put in a discussion. Can you possibly judge the character of that person? Do you believe that the person is who she is in her ways of conversation, either polite or ill mannered? dull or lively?

The connection between mental state and handwriting was researched by certain people in psychology. They said there is a correlation but it is almost impossible to get 100% accuracy. Nevertheless a general picture of a person's attitudes and characteristics is enough for most of us. It is similar to judging a person by his/her appearance.
Not all doctors have bad handwriting. I have met doctors with nice handwriting. Maybe there is something behind similar handwriting.
Thank you for your response.

Hello rosdimy! I have heard about this handwriting thing. Honestly, I am not sure if I am going to believe it. Based on what I heard, through handwriting of the person, you will know what kind of person is he. I just don't understand why they would know about it. Maybe it's true maybe not.

They did many researches with actual people and found many similarities between people having the same mood or attitude. It was said that they also studied the handwriting of personalities who have moved on to a different life. For each point under study there are at least two possibilities. It is said that people with small handwriting have a low opinion of themselves or have an analytical mind. Scientists for example have small handwriting.

No, I don't believe in this. There was a time when my handwriting was extremly bad and no one would be able to understand it. Later, I practiced a lot to improve my handwriting. My handwriting was improved but there were no changes in my personal behavior. So, personally I don't believe this.

Maybe you did change a little bit without realising it? The way I see it you disciplined yourself with full conviction and dedication to make the change. I am only asking, not disbelieving you.
I was informed that handwriting analysis is not 100% accurate. It is also open to misinterpretations especially by novices who pretend to be experts. It used to be a craze in Malaysia but the inaccuracies have helped to kill the craze.
Thank you for your response.

Thank you for your response.
I think I have completely recovered from the depression. It took me a long time because I did not seek any professional help. My friends did not even realise I was suffering. The incident changed or shaped further my perceptions of human nature.
