Scientists are using coral reefs as tea leaves. What the watery tea leaves are saying is not good either. Said coral reefs are 'saying' that another Earthquake like the one that decimated Asia via tidal wave in December of 2004 is coming within the next several decades.

How do coral reefs talk? Scientists look at the growth patterns of coral reefs. When a quake occurs the sea floor rises up, effectively lowering the sea level so that shallow coral reefs are now above the surface. The reefs can’t grow upward, but their still submerged portions grow outward.
*
Every two hundred years or so reefs in the area of the Asian tsunami, according to the coral reef growth pattern, this disturbance happens.
