My first ever batch of fudge

This is my very first attempt at making fudge.
Carnation has made it easy and quick as well.
This is a photo of the box I bought at Sam's Club.
It includes everything needed except butter.
It has a can of Carnation evaporated milk, Hersheys Chocolate chips,
a bag of sugar mix and a bag of marshallows, and decoartive trays
for the fudge to be placed in.
Mix and boil butter, condensed milk, till boiling.
Then boil and stir constantly for 4 minutes.
Remove from heat then stir in chips and marshallows stirring/blending till fully melted. Put in the pan and refridgerate 2 hours and it's ready to eat.
It's great because theres no need for a double boiler like for a lot of candy boiling etc.
I added some Holiday sprinkles as well on top. Do you make fudge from scratch or do you go the easy way as I did for my first time?

I have always made it from scratch, never knew they made it so easy with everything except the butter. I do recall once on here someone saying something about this and I think you said you saw it at Sam's. I don't have a Sam's card though. I wonder if anyone else sells it? My mother used to make some with the jars of marshmallow before.

I am sure it can be found elsewhere.
This is a big box with two batches of mix.
I mentioned it a couple weeks ago when I bought it.
I had to decide on making fudge or brownies that day.
Here's a shot of the fudge just before I placed it in the fridge.

Thanks.
Weight wise I have no idea.
The pan is 8 x 8 x 1.5 inches.
It's a good sized pan of fudge really.

My Mother is a horrible cook, but the best baker of sweets there is..she was always asked to bring the lemon meringue pies, cookies, fudge, cakes and all homemade like the way things should still be made and boy if anyone has a sweet tooth i have all of them..lol..She would make her fudge and it wasn't sweet marshmellow sweet..thats what i mean..it was perfect to die for fudge and if you had two bites you'd probably go into a diabetic shock...sadly she lives in Calif. and i don't get her special treats anymore..her crust was so melt off the fork in her pies that i'd ask her to make just crust and sprinkled with cinnamon..yummm i'm hungry now..lol..

Did you have to use a double boiler pan then for moms recipe?
The only thing I hated was stirring constantly for 4 minutes.
That's to keep it from burnming I guess?

Hey Grandpa Bob! That sounds like my kind of Fudge Mix! I
wonder if they sell that anywhere else! I don't belong to
Sam's Club, although I wish I did! My girlfriend does, but
who knows when she'll be going there next time! I'll have to
ask her now! I would love to have that kind of easy to make
fudge mix! I would never try to make it any other way. I can't
do double boiler things! I'd blow up the house! I'd never get
it right! I'm not the candy making type! I just am the candy
eating type!lol Now you got me wanting some nice fudge too!

WalMart is owned by Smas or vice versa.
So I'd guess a WalMart mat carry it.
Even grocery stores should carry it as it is a national brand name product.

I make fudge every year. I use the recipe on the back the jar of Kraft marshmellow cream. It sounds like the basic recipe you used. It make sgreat fudge and its easy too. Fool proof, like you said, no need for double broilers, no need for candy thermomenters. You can also experiment with it and add some extra stuff. Chopped nuts, peanut butter etc.
Merry Christmas to you and the family. I haven't been able to find time to check in at mylot. I have been selling on ebay and I have been really busy. Tis the season.

I've never paid attention to the label on the jars when I bought them.
I use that stuff for making a fruit salad is all. I may have to try it sometime soon. Well I am glad that the time you did find, you spent some of it in my discussions. Thank you very much friend. No more freebies for us?

Oh you are so mean.
Here I am diabetic and you show how to make this delicious fudge.
Well maybe one piece will not hurt. After all I might need one in case my sugar gets too low.
I did make some using condensed milk, not as good though.

I have tried and failed many times to make fudge. this year, my long time friend and i have decided to attempt it once again. I have printed out your recipe here and I'll let you know how it all turns out. My mom was known for her great chocolate fudge and there is no way that I could hold a candle to that. In fact before she passed...she hid that recipe...if there was one as we all tried to get it from her. she did tell my aunt how she made it but later told me that she lied about the ingredients because she didn't want anyone to take over her role. She will always be remembered as t he queen of fudge and it appears that the title won't be handed down soon as long as anyone that ever tasted her fudge is living. so thank you for the great recipe and happy holidays to you and your family!!

Nope, not a single one except from my friend on IM who said "Oh no, you can't!" When I said I think I lost my holiday cooking mojo.

I just made about 4 pounds of fudge today too. I use the recipe that is on the back of the marchmallow fluff jar. I have used this recipe several times over the years and it always comes out really good, well except once when I didn't stir the whole time, then it burned the pan, but that was several years ago, now I know when they say stir constantly for 5 minutes while it boils they mean it. Congratulations on your successful fudge.

Someone else mentioned that recipe on the jars.
I have to try that in the future I think.
4 lbs is a lot of fudge. I hope it's gifts etc not all for you.

Oh, lovely! Glad to see the recipe uses butter. A lot of the fudge you buy these days is made with margarine, and it's definitely NOT the same! I've never attempted to make it, because I thought you needed a sugar thermometer and to boil it to a certain temperature, which sounded a bit iffy for a hopeless cook like me. Your fudge kit sounds like just the ticket - delicious!

Maragine?
Ewwww that's just oil and additives.
I have not used margarine etc in ages.
You'll only find real butter in my house for cooking and toast etc.
This lit is simple, quick, and decently priced for fudge actually.

Yum! Looks great, Grandpa Bob. I used to make fudge from scratch. Well, attempt to, that is. Mone NEVER turned out- always too gritty! I think the key is a candy thermometer, which I didn't have.

I have only ever made fudge a few times, but that is basically the way I make it. I have never bought a box with all the stuff in it before though. That is kind of cool. I hope you enjoyed your fudge. That recipe makes some good fudge. I have also used the same way of making it, but added some mini marshmallows and pecans for a Rocky Road fudge.

That is great getting all that in one box. I wish we had that stuff here, I bet it does not cost as much either as seperate ingrediants.
That will be so handy to make and a lot quicker and less messier. Have you made any yet. I bet they tasted great.
My youngest daughter made top hats today at school. I do not like marshmallows though so I put them in my coffee. (she thinks I am eating them)
Sorry Bob. I nearly forgot. Yes! I make fudge from scratch but have not made it in a very long time.
