When Reading The Bible

It is a common knowledge the bible is the best selling and the most widely read book in the world. Yet, each one of us who have been reading the book must have varied reasons for having been hooked into reading some books or verses from day to day. For me, it is because I want to know the totality of God's prescriptions so my love ones and I can be assured of salvation just as St. Paul did. Maybe there are so much to this and please share them with me.

I am not from the western countries but I do read bible. I have one just beside my bed and every night before going to bed, I'd like to read it. Sometimes I am confused by some of the chapters and then I read on and feel I like it. But I still haven't finished it, hehe. I feel peaceful reading the bible. It is very wise and then I got to reflect on things happening in my life and I guess I get some inspirations from it.

that is true, denise. the bible is the one book which is being read throughout the world - regardless of race and religion. so many scrutinize the book. it is such a source of wisdom, of love, of hope and continuously reading it will cultivate within us an immovable faith in God. no matter how much we keep on reading the bible, we will never have enough of it. this is the reason why people just simply read it over and over again and yet feel that they have never truly mastered the entirety of the biblical texts from cover to cover. for the bible is not supposed to be understood and memorized, it is meant to be believed in, to develop in us a deep love for God and our fellowmen, and to make us hold on unto that hope that there is really salvation for mankind in the form of the promised heavenly kingdom.

I suppose some verses or chapters give one the assurance of salvation and some deal with specific problems. For instance some of the psalms deal with certain problems the psalmist has, and some are about thankfulness. The Bible in whole tells of the dealings of God with man, the foretelling of sending HIS son to Earth to save us from our sins, and how God overcomes the evil one. And there are some verses and chapters that I just love to read over and over again that gives me the assurance of my own salvation.

the bible is good in so many ways. it can never fail us. it is complete in itself. i mean a complete tool we can rely on if we are looking only for God's wisdom to answer all the problems that we may encounter in life.
