I came across a website called etsy.com the other day while playing around on the internet. It is a website where people sell handmade crafts and things. I love to do crafts. I dont have much time for it but if I could sell them on a site like that it would be worth it. Does anyone on here sell on etsy? What kind of rules do they have? Thanks.

Hi my2boys! I sell on Etsy and I love the site! Basically the rules are quite simple... if the item is handmade by you, then this is probably the best venue for you. I know that some people prefer eBay to sell their items. But eBay has turned into a flea market of sorts...people looking for bargains, not looking to spend what an item is really worth. Okay back to Etsy... Opening a shop is free. Listings cost 20 cents. It's 20 cents if your item sells for $3.00 and it's 20 cents if your item is priced for $3,000. Etsy takes a final value fee of 4.5%. Etsy is not an auction site, you have a store, you set your price and you can promote your items in their forum. Etsy has classes for new members where they offer helpful hints on improving your shop, what works, what doesn't and why, etc. Etsy allows you to post 5 free images in your listings and your listing stays in your shop for 4 months. Etsy allows me to have an online presence 24/7. Customers at craft fairs like knowing that they can reach me through my site and I believe that has helped me to make larger sales and I've had repeat sales to craft fair customers who have purchased at my Etsy site also. Etsy is competitive. There are certain categories, like handmade jewelry that are extremely competitive and it's very easy for your items and shop to get lost in the crowd. Promoting is the key to success at Etsy (unless you are bringing in your own customers) Customers on Etsy know that the items are made well and recognize these items take time to make. They are willing to pay the price for a unique handmade item, rather than the cookie-cutter mass produced "stuff" in the stores. Take a look at the site, feel free to ask any questions you may have... I think you'll like it!

I've never even heard of that website until now. Sounds like something worth finding more about. I'll have to check into it.
