I have been using Mozilla Firefox since its inception and have found it to be quite pleasant, easy and wonderful to use. However, I have become quite perplexed since the upgrade to 3.0. It appears that my computer is slowing down, more viruses and worms are getting through even with triple protection and I am finding that my computer is locking up more and more.
Tell me my fellow Mylotters, what is your experience like if you are using Mozilla Firefox. Have you upgraded to 3.0 or 3.0.5? I have and again having some problems and worried that my computer might crash again. I am using is trying to be extra careful.
At the same time, I read an article that Internet Explorer has some security issues as well. So, what do we do?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I do find Firefox 3.0 to be somehow less secure. It seems that there is a 'leak' somewhere allowing certain malware to slip through.
One malware manifested itself with a pop up which did not go until I exited Firefox. It resurfaced when Firefox was restarted, even after a system reboot. So Firefox was uninstalled and reinstalled and that solved the problem.
Yahoo Mail has a security feature when we log in. I made my own text logo which disappeared after one or two days. It happened more than three times so I gave up. According to Yahoo the disappearance of the logo indicates at least one malware has taken control.
I am still using Firefox for normal surfing because there are websites which are optimised for Firefox and IE. For sensitive email accounts I use Opera. Seeing that you are using an old computer I would like to suggest the use of Opera browser. It is now completely free and has reached version 9.63. The program is small and it does not tax system resources. I have seen Opera 8 being used on a 486 machine.
all the best,

Excellent response. I appreciate the information. I agree with Yahoo's logo. That is a trick of some kind, so I stopped using it. Interesting information about the Yahoo logo because that was happening with me. I am going to eventually stop using Yahoo all together. That may be the reason for my recent computer crashes and not Firefox. So, Opera is pretty good, huh?
Thanks for the response and Have a great holiday!

I have tried Mozilla Firefox 3 but am not using it as its a bit complexed and its address bar is not good which finding recent visited sites. The only good thing about Firefox-3 which I like the most is that its its inbuild download software has the capiblity of pausing a running download and then close firefox and later on you can resume download from the place you left it.
I prefer Mozilla-2 because its easy to use and also doesn't slows down the processing time and doesn't hangs the system as what done by Firefox-3.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am currently using Firefox 2.0, and I am also thinking should I upgrade to Firefox 3.0. The newer version should be much better and more secure. But, I am using a very old computer, which the performance is already very poor, I don't think I will install Firefox 3.0 if it'll slow down my computer.
Thanks. :)

Yes. Even though I have already elected to upgrade to 3.0.5, I am finding at times, not all the time, that Firefox is slowing down my computer as well as not allowing me to open up a bunch of windows at one time. With the advancement of computers, we should be able to do this with no problem. Still better and more secure than Windows Explorer. I am running Internet Explorer Beta as some programs I am involved in do not allow me to use Firefox.
Thanks for the response.
