An un-needed rescue...

I was just leaving my client's to go to the meal at my brother's girlfriend's place when my sister called and said she locked the keys in the car. I said I had AAA and maybe I could get the car unlocked for them. Well, she thought it was a workable idea, but wasn't sure what my brother's address was so I had to call him. He was for not bothering because he thought it would take too long. I told him that if I was given a big window then I would tell them to take a pass on opening the car and would call them later. Well, AAA said they'd have someone there by a few minutes shy of 2 and since the meal was already going to be late for another reason, I said I would meet them at the car. I've got to say, that the guy was there and had the car OPEN before 10 of 2. Only thing is that the keys WEREN'T in the car, they had some how fall out on to the bed my sister is using at my bro's. So we didn't need to have the car unlocked after all... The only real problem was that I was going to have to leave before the rest of them - my bro doesn't understand, I have other things to do besides hang out with family - so they were stuck with the one car. On the other hand, they could make 2 trips if they needed to. My brother's girlfriend lives in FAR south Austin, I live north and my roomie, who I had to pick up, was at her folks in Cedar Park and that is north west of town. But I did manage to prove to my bro that AAA isn't as slow as he seemed to think. I think that getting someone to the location and having the car unlocked with in 30 minutes of calling is pretty darn good! And on Christmas DAY! So, do you have AAA? Have you ever used them? In the last few years I've had gas delivered, 2 jumps, a tire changed, and another car unlocked - well worth every cent!

That is wonderful. I am glad that you did the right thing and called them and they came in a timely manner. We do not have AAA but I will definitely consider them.

I got them after having a problem and the neighbors had to rescue me. What with my car aging, I'm so glad I have it.

Hi Elic, Here in the UK there is an organisaion called the AA and I have had to call them a few times over the years and have always found them to be extremely efficient. I think the longest I had to wait was 45 minutes when I was in a hire car that wouldn't start again after stopping off at a service area. Glad it was all sorted. My dinner was late too but only because we were so full from the starter that we had an hours break in between LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

yes especially for christmas day that really is remarkable. but what a christmas fooling around with that. I am sure tempers where hot in your family, what a waste of time especially when the keys were not there in the first place, oh well this is something you guys can look back on and laugh on in the future.

Well, the only one who might be hot would be my brother. My sister has a better understanding of the fact that I have a life in town and if I have other things to do, I have other things to do.

Wow...that is excellent time for them...especially on Christmas! I have AAA and I think they are awesome. They came in really handy when the truck wasn't running and we had to take it to another town to get it fixed. It cut the towing cost pretty much in half. Definitely worth it.

After my car wreck, AAA took care of my towing to the repair shop from the place it had been towed after the accident.

They did that for my friend as well that wrecked her car a few months ago, even though it was a one vehicle crash (she went into a ditch in the dark).

I do not have triple A but I do have towing on my cell phone and have only used it once. It works well and we got 50 dollars off a tow from out of town. It would have been free if we would not have been out of town.

That's cool. My friend, Elaine, had not long before gotten AAA and was run off the road by a drunk. 2 guys in the car behind her stopped and called the police. It cost about $150 to get her car towed to Houston from Columbus Texas.

Wow that is horrible it sounds like your friend was OK after the accident. I hope the police found the drunks. Happy new year.

AAA has saved me many times and I am so glad to have them. I also like that you get help with bail if you are arrested but have yet, in over 30 years, ever needed it, but you NEVER know!!! Not that I plan on getting arrested, lol. Only 3x in my life have I locked my keys in my car. The first time I did NOT have AAA. The second time, I did, but my daughter's BF said not to waste the call. They drove down and he found a way in. The third time I used AAA. Thank goodness!!

The other times I've locked myself out, I called once a cab to open it for me and the other time the security of the Ren Faire got me in. I have used them twice to get me into OTHER people's cars, like on Christmas. This Avalon was the hardest to get in I have go say.

Well, you seem to have made good use of your membership -- got your money's worth, and all that. Not only do I not have a car, I don't even drive, so have no need for AAA (CAA here in Canada).

Well, I do drive, a lot. I know my mom had it for years and mostly used it to get maps. I've used the road side assistance probably more in the 3 years I've had it compared to the 20 years she did.

Yup I sure do have AAA!! I haven't had to use it at all this year but I've been with the company since 1986 and have used them several times over that period and yes, it is well worth having! My grandmother was the one who got me started in it and I've been with them ever since.
