Well I did it finally....

I created my web site. It took me awhile because I tend to have a hard time believing things are as easy as they seem. And I used Synthasite to do it. And I have to say they are very easy and if you know a little HTML you can jiggle things around the way you want to. And I have not used HTML in years...so it comes back to you just like riding a bike. And I added a little here and a little there and I finally have gotten it the way I wanted it to look so far. Because that could change tomorrow...who knows. I am eager to create a blog on there and that was my goal this weekend, but I had a lot to do around the house and I got called in to work....so that will be next week's task. So do you have your own site you built either using an online site or yourself? Do you have a blog on your site?

I have a website on Synthasite, but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it. I had a blog on it, but deleted it because I don't like anything about the blogging app that you have to use there. Synthasite is pretty good, but, from the questions people ask on the help page, it's not as easy as the company claims. There are lots of features that you can't include unless you know how to use HTML (like tables), and some of the features are glitchy. If you don't do things in a certain order, they get completely messed up. I finally figured out how to get around all the problems, but it was pretty frustrating for a while.

I do agree if you do not know how to use HTML it can be difficult...cause there were a few banners and things that I had to type in myself in order to get them displayed...but once you get the hang of it I don't think it's entirely tricky. One thing is I know for someone who wants just a basic page and has no experience it can be a starting point. But I agree with their help section is rather hard to understand. But so far so good. I can't complain considering it was free to create and publish it. Did you purchase your own domain?

Yes, I purchased my domain, and now I'm sorry I spent the money. It's not because of Synthasite, but because I'm not sure I want to continue with the topic. At least it wasn't a big investment. And I have most of next year to decide to do something with it or let it go.

It gives me immense pleasure when I see my friends or colleagues create their own website. In fact the basic art of creating a website is admittedly easy. But it is more difficult to ensure a powerful online presence through a website. Earlier I used to create bunch of websites. Later on, I have stopped doing so as it takes some time to promote a website as well. So, to see your website a real success - you need to take into account the matter of promotion as well. Wish you every success.

I agree. I took a web class a long time ago...but itis comig back to me using this site. And I am still learning the basics on everything. I haven't got the promo thing down yet, but when I have time I will look over their tips on the site. Thanks for your response.

Never built a site so I commend you on that task. Let us know the link when you get a chance so we can drop by and say hello.
