Yes 9 of the top 10 of the world's deadliest snakes live in Australia. No wonder we do not like them, although they are actually protected. This means that you cannot kill them unless they attack you first. Disturb them and they will certainly have a go, so most people will kill them first.

I read this novel (fiction) once called The Snake which featured the black mamba and I am a fan of that snake. It is the fastest thing on no legs.
