Yesterday, I was in Pathmark with my mother. I turned my cart to go down an aisle, there was a box with drinking straws in it right at the edged of the aisle. When I turned my cart, it hit the box and all the straw boxes in the box fell out.
One would think that they would have had sense enough, first of all not to display straws, which are light weight in the box they were delivered in at the edge of an aisle. Disaster was waiting to happen.
Have you ever knocked something over, broke something or had any other disaster in a supermarket?

I somehow broke a bottle of shampoo in a Walmart several years ago and I'm not sure how that happened. I was looking for shampoo because I needed a new bottle and I picked one up to look at it and then I put it back on the shelf. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I left and as soon as I turned around to walk out of the isle I heard a crash behind me.
Sure enough, one of the bottles had fallen to the floor and the top broke so naturally shampoo was all over the floor. Someone came and did clean it up a few minutes after it happened and I did feel bad but I didn't throw it on the floor or anything. I put it back on the shelf and for some reason, it toppled over.

I often wonder if the people putting things out on the shelves think at all about where they are putting things. I have never had a major mess in a store, but I have had several boxes fall off of a shelf onto me before when I was trying to get something.

First of all, I have to keep my composure as I respond to this discussion as I am on the verge of tears from laughing so hard.
I always wondered that same thing as I used to frequent supermarkets. Who indeed was the master mind behind all of the ending aisle containers.
What is worse is when the put small glass jars of some sort of food, and it not only breaks on the floor and ruins a good pair of shoes, but you almost end up getting cut from the broken glass.
As a logistics manager, part of my job besides ensuring everyone has everything that they need to carryout a particular function is to make sure that whatever setup is required for each activity or meeting that everyone would be safe.
Someone should contact the local safety inspector.
