Do you have a story of a bad New Year's Eve? Have you ever had a bad one?
Mine was 8 years ago.
A lot of bad things had happened to me right around that time. I broke up with my boyfriend a week before Christmas, and was still emotional over that. The boyfriend I broke up with tried to ruin my life. He drained the oil out of my car and I ended up blowing the engine when I took it out the next day, so I had no car. The job I had was a delivery driver, so no car means no job. The boyfriend also called child services to have my son taken away, he made up lies. They had come over and asked a bunch of questions and had to examine my son for bruises etc... nothing came of it, but it was still a horrible experience.
Not to mention at the time I was still living with my real mother, and she basically ruined my Christmas because she had to be a total B****. She was jealous that all my friends and other family bought expensive gifts for my son and my mother couldn't afford anything for my siblings who were still very young at the time.
It was just a really horrible time in my life.
So New Year's Eve I invited over a male friend of mine who I'd known for a couple years at that point. Even though I wasn't legal drinking age yet, I'd managed to get a bottle of Southern Comfort, and was drinking it straight from the bottle.
I remember my friend showing up, my mom and siblings were out for the night. I don't remember much else. I ended up calling my friend the next morning to ask him what happened.
He said that I began crying and getting emotional over my ex and everything that had happened, and at the stroke of midnight I started throwing up all over the place. Apparently I threw up 3 or 4 times, took a shower, and threw up some more, eventually passing out in my own vomit. That's the point where he left. At some point I must have woken up and got myself into bed, because that's where I woke up.
To this day I have no memory of it... only what he told me. Now you think this guy would have run away screaming after seeing me like that. Oddly enough, he didn't... a couple years later he and I got married.
Hopefully tonight will not be a repeat of that night 8 years ago.

I think my worst new years eve was spent getting ready for my mothers wedding. The wedding itself was a joke. She had known the guy for six months before they got engaged and then were married that same year. I was about 11 or 12 at the time and I knew it was a bad idea but no one wanted to listen to me. I really hated it but I was pretty much forced to spend the evening decorating and preparing for the wedding.
My mother sat around all day glaring at her fiance (a lot of issues there) and didn't do anything. The relatives made me and my cousin decorate the place, the entire place, by ourselves while they stood around and talked most of the evening. The only thing they did was figure out what to do with food and what to do with the cake.
That night, I was so tired and exhausted I came home and crashed on the couch and stayed their the whole night. They kept trying to wake me up but I did not want to get up. I just wanted to be left alone and people kept yelling at me all evening because I was being selfish because I wanted to sleep.
Yeah, definitely not one of the better years.

I sure do hope that you never have to repeat that one again, it sounded really horrible.. Most of mine have been uneventful so far and I do hope they stay that way.. A couple of years ago, we did have one of the worst ones ever but it was because my mother was sick and dying, so it was hard on us, but she made it almost 2 more months, which I enjoyed to the fullest.. That was the worst one ever because I knew she wasn't going to make it much longer, she was 90 yrs old and her kidneys were failing, so we knew she wouldn't be with us much longer.. This one is uneventful also.. Hope yours is great this year, Happy New Year!!!

My worst New Year's Eve would have to be one when I was in high school and I got the worst ear infection I've ever had in my life. I was in so much pain and we couldn't do anything because it was New Year's Eve, so I just had to deal with the pain. I remember my mom coming in my room and drinking some sparkling cider with me in my bed at midnight.

Honestly I'd say that was an uneventful New Year. It truly was a bad Christmas, but the New Year wasn't as bad as it could have been. I think it would have been worse if my mother was at home.
You are lucky not to have had a bad New Year celebration.
