Have You Seen "Here On Earth"?

This is another oldie but goodie from "way back" in 2000 that I just now caught, moments ago, in fact. "Here On Earth" stars Leelee Sobieski, Chris Klein and Josh Hartnett and starts out like a typical teen love triangle, complete with the spoiled, smart-a$$ rich kid and the girl and the boy from the "wrong side of the tracks". Rich kid Kelley (Klein) and his two rich buddies from a fancy prep-school sneak Kelley's new car - a graduation gift from the father who couldn't make it to the ceremony - for a ride into the nearby small town and stop in at "Mabel's Table", a local diner owned by Samantha's (Sobieski) family. Kelley and Samantha's long time boyfriend Jasper (Hartnett) have words which erupt into a fight and a senseless drag-race which ends up back in the parking lot of the diner with terrible results as the diner is burned to the ground. The two boys' sentences are to spend their summer helping rebuild the diner. I didn't know anything about this movie when I started watching it so it was all surprising to me but for those of you who haven't seen it and who are also in the dark as to what it's about I won't say anymore other than that it is not your typical, predictable teens coming of age movie. It's really much more than that and I really recommend it. Have you seen it and if so, what did you think? Annie
