I just read the cast list for Cornelia Funke's Inkheart, which is scheduled for release January 23, and I have to say it had better be good. I love Cornelia Funke's books but the cast of Inkheart concerns me a lot. The main character is a young girl, Meggie, who's about 12 years old and Eliza Bennett is 16. I guess that's not that big of a difference but couldn't they have found a younger girl? Eliza's credits include Nanny McPhee and The Prince and Me. Meggie's father, Mo, a man who can read things and people out of books (he reads and things appear) is being played by Brendan Fraser. Dustfinger, the squirrelly "double agent" fellow who was once Mo's best friend but then turns Meggie over to the bad guys is Paul Bettany and the villain Capricorn is Andy Serkis. If it were up to me, Meggie would be a brilliant new comer in her break-out role, Mo would have been Ewan McGregor, David Tennant as Dustfinger and Gary Oldman as Capricorn. What about you? Have you ever wanted to re-cast a movie made from a favorite book?

All Stephen King movies. None of the characters seem to fit what I would have thought the characters as being.
