On New Years Day. But he stayed in hiding. He has reclusive nature. He has not published an original work since 1965 and has not been interviewed since 1980. Do you think we will hear or see anything more from him or just read about him when he has passed away?

I can't imagine that he would change at this point and decide to publish something or put himself in the public eye again. He has his reasons for keeping his life private, so short of a major change in his life, he will likely keep it that way. I like to think that he has been writing for all these years, even if he chooses not to publish. He is a very talented writer, and I hope that if he has been writing that he chooses to share it with the world. It would be a shame to waste that talent.

I'm not sure who this is. We usually do not hear much about these people who are not regularly in the spotlight until they pass away though.

Actually I am ashamed of myself because I hadn't a clue as to who J.D. Salinger was until I looked him up on the web. I love reading but I often forget the authors names. I seen that he wrote The Catcher in the Rye,"A Perfect Day for Bananafish" and several short stories. 1965 is a long time not to publish something. But He had his troubles from what I read. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._D._Salinger I guess with the troubles he had I would be reclusive also.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J.D._Salinger It's a good thing Wikipedia knows more than I do about people. :) Like I've ever read "Catcher in the Rye." Given what I've read, however, I don't think he is likely to wake up one day and desire public attention. That being so, I don't think he'll have anything further published unless it is a post-humus publication. He may well be writing things, but not publishing them because he abhors the attention.
