Do you like your nationality? Why or why not?

Some people think they are unlucky to be born into a poor country. Others, for some reason, are just ashamed of their own nationality. I am a Filipino and I'm proud of it. My country may be poor but it is rich in natural resources and talented citizens. If I were to be born again into this world, I would still prefer to be born a Filipino. What about you? Are you proud of your nationality? Feel free to share your thoughts.

I am British and when I was in Australia I got called the pommy tourist and that was upsetting. I called myself the English traveler. Australia is known as the lucky country and how I wish my relatives had been convicts. If so I might have been born there. I didn't like my home country having so many colonies in the past and felt happy when countries were handed back. I like British history. I think that the UK is over populated for its size. I am pleased that I was born here because it is place with a mild climate and a good sort of lifestyle. I think that is it a fairly good place to live but Australia would have been more my cup of tea. I love traveling and for years lived close to airports that have cheap flights and cross channel ferries.

Thanks for sharing your candid thoughts. I'm sure we are all proud of our nationalities, but it would not hard to wish for something better. Right?

I am an Indian and proud to be one.I live in the city which recently witnessed a terrorist attack, Mumbai. India is an ancient land and the culture dates thousands of years. It is also rich in natural resources. It is one of the most progressive developing counties of the world and has a very strong democratic setup which has lasted for the last 61 years. The population is diverse and there are many languages spoken and written and therefore the cultural and traditional diversity is vast. India is the only country in the world which has a very strong spiritual background going back to thousands of years. The seers and sages of ancient times have contributed a very rich spiritual legacy to the entire world which is relevant even and more so in our modern age.The epics Ramayana and Mahabharat , and the spiritual scriptures like the Bhagwat Gita , Shrimad Bhagwatam. the Vedas and the Upanishads and many more are some of the great writings of the ancient times. In India all the major religions of the world are represented and they live harmoniously though now and then there are troublemakers who cause disturbances. However inspite of that India is a wonderful place to live and if i were to be reborn it would be here and nowhere else.

There are karmic reasons why we are born in a particular country. One needs to learn what one can and be productive wherever they are born. I don't mind my country. I think it is wonderful and there are many opportunities for people here. Cheers!!

That is a very good point. Sometimes people just have to look inward to discover the beauty and opportunities that each country can offer. Continue to be proud!

I am very proud of who I am. I was born an American Citizen and I wouldn't have it any other way. I think we should all be proud of where we come from. We all come from different places, cultures, etc and I think we can all learn a lot from each other if we would just give one another a chance.
