Would you seek a rational explanation ?

There has been a news article doing the rounds locally on the question of how a baby miraculously survived without a scath after being immersed in boiling oil as part of a ritual and custom. This was followed by an explanation that the oil was not really boiling but at a comfortable temprature and the bubbling effect to appear as hot boiling oil was done by addition of some lemon juice to the pan before adding the oil.
That made me think about how many of us seek a rational and logical explanation to some of the experiences that we may be puzzled about. Are you one of them ?

I think that by nature, most of us seek a rational explanation for things. Hence the ongoing battles between many concerning God and Religion! The explanation given as to why this baby was not scalded does make sense, otherwise divine intervention played a role! But that of course cannot be proven so a tangible theory will always be sought as with this instance. If we are able to empower ourselves with an inquisitive and seeking mindset plus a strong emphasis on faith in parallel, then we should fare well in life you would think! Mankind sometimes needs to just accept some things for what they are and not everything in life HAS to have an explanation. The challenge is in knowing what to accept using faith and what to pursue!

It's your last sentence James which i guess is something we can only be the best judge about. "The challenge is in knowing what to accept using faith and what to pursue!".
But incidents such as these, especially if they happen in the public domain do leave a desire to be questioned. That is what i felt after having followed the various happenings.
Thanks for the response.

It's the traditions and the beliefs which make people do the things like immersing the baby i oil which have got me going. There are instances like the one that you have cited which are not those which are tradition, custom or ritual related. The miracle of the baby being alive here is paramount.
Thanks
